Those born between 1st April 2008 to 31st March 2009 can apply for nursery admission.

(Minimum Age: 3 years old as on 31st, March 2012)

If he fits into this criteria then send him to School. Since nect year he would be 4 and Kg admission would be very very tough. Kids used to fit into any environment. So don't worry.

It is mandate by our "considerate" govt but if I would have given a choice then I would not send my Jan born 3 year kid to formal school for 1 more year...... BUT I have no choice, it seems govt is better judge of EVERYTHING.....

yup i agree..but i did speak to few schools and they said they would take the feb march borns for admissions to nursery even next year..i mean by that time he would be have crossed 4 years..its confusing me..i dont want to be in a situation where i am underestimating the learning ability of the kid neither do i want to put extra pressure from the bus travel and six hours of schooling at this tender age..but yes he does look young for formal school at this juncture

@Paras.... Personally I think that opting-out would be a lot easier than opting-in (except some loss of money). I mean I can always get him out of school in the middle of session and found a better alternative but vice-versa is very difficult. So, right now I am just going with the flow and letting him follow his own course of development, but surely I feel that he is too young for formal education right now. But what do I know....Mr. Lovely knows better

3 yr child is too young to go to the school. Last year I was also in the same dilemma.  son is 31st march born.  right on the border.  last year I was tried just to see and understnad the scenario.... could get in in any of the big reputed school without sibling/Alumini and without donation.  Last yeat at very late stage some time in July we got the call from nearby school for nursery admission and we took the admission.  Despite child being very active he found it difficult to go to school so early in the morning (particularly in winter),  number of times he had shown frustration while writing as he could not able write properly.  We simply stopped him from doing written work.  Let him grow at his own pace.  Teacher complained at the PTM (September) but we ignored her concerns as we do not want to pressurize the child.

Luckily, By God Grace this year he is selected in the Mount Carmel Ananad Niketan which has min age of 3.5 year. So we will be repeating Nursery for him.

Couple of more schools like Sriram give extra point for 3.5 or 4 year child.

hope this experience will help you.

thanks akul.thats precisely my concern...and i think ur experience is a learning in itself..there is absolutely no point in pressurizing the child at this tender age..thanks for ur time and suggestion akul
