First list out, nervous wait for the 2nd begins for many | PTI
New Delhi, Feb 1 : As the first list of children selected for nursery admission was released by city schools today, it brought joy to the lucky parents whose tiny tots could make the cut and heart break to thousands of others.
Unable to make it in the first attempt, parents are now waiting for the second list which will be released later this month.
Asked about the nursery admission process, Education Minister Arvinder Singh Lovely said not a single child would be left without getting admission.
“We will ensure that each and every child in the city gets admission in nursery class,” he said.
The first list shows that most of the schools preferred children with points in sibling or alumni category, a trend that reduced the chances of admission of kids in the general category.
However, experts and principals have advised parents not to get disheartened and wait for the second list.
“There is always a chance in the second list as many kids who are selected in multiple schools will create vacancies in some schools,” said Sumit Vohra, founder of popular parents forum ‘admissionsnursery.com’.
“If your ward got selected in a school which is not of your choice. Don’t waste time, get the admission done first and then wait for the second list. The basic rule of nursery admission is to block a seat,” he told PTI.
Ashok Pandey, Principal of Ahlcon International School in Mayur Vihar, concurred and said,” Parents should deposit the fees in the first school their child has been selected. If a school of their choice still has vacancy, they may switch to it later.” According to the rules by Directorate of Education, a school has to refund the fees within a month if one withdraws from it after deducting the registration fee and one month’s tuition fee.
The results of first list also showed that many schools have chosen draw of lots for selecting children even as they adopted a points system.
The second list will be out by February 28 and the whole admission process, which began with the selling of forms on January 2, has to be completed before March 31, as per the DoE guidelines.

Dear Sakshi,
Currently my son did not got listed in any school. I stays in east delhi.
I am totally depressed by these admission criteria in Delhi, Came in Delhi last year from Mumbai where there are good schools and no such scenario like Delhi exists.
Whether for my son do not have any rights to study in good school? If I looks at my education background and the way it is not getting started for my son I feel totally depressed that as a good parent I am unable to start good education for my child.
- If admission chapter is closed now (with waiting list also declared) do I have any alternative - have seen in this forum at some places management seats are mentioned, can you help me in providing the fee structure / amount required for this.
Your valuable inputs will be highly appreciated........

Dear Sakshi,
My two neighbourhood schools New Green Field and St George both in alaknanda had the list without showing the points secured by each student, is it not mandatory for them to put the points as well?
Really depressed not secured seats in any school.
Thanks
Mini
Would like to know if the DOE has issued any guidelines regarding display of points of the shortlisted candidates. I understand that the schools get a large number of applications and the seats are limited. But, the schools need to be transparent in their approach and should declare the points obtained by each applicant. There are some schools like APJ Sheikh Sarai and Amity Saket who did not even disclose the criteria for awarding the points, forget about mentioning the points while decalring the list. I would rather say Amity's system is a perfect example of playing around with guidelines. They do not even release the list publically, just give you a loginid/pwd using which you can login to see only - "Selected"/"Not Selected".
Then, there are schools like Gyan Bharati, who declare that admission would be on points. But, then suddenly, take out a lottery for ALL without even shortlisting. A person with 10 points is on the same standing with a person with 50 points. Can't digest this. Then they didn't even allow the parents to put in the slips for the lottery. Not sure whose and how many slips were actually put into the draw. Birla Vidya Niketan also did not allow the parents to put in the slips. If Tagore International Schools can do this, why can't they. This would only increase their credibility and in the meantime bring in some transparency.
I've no words to express my anger with the way many schools have done away with the admission procedures....don't even know what points my only daughter got in many of these schools. Very very dissapointed....
i just dont know what to say about the system because i am just speechless from yesterday experience. my brother and sister in law applied in for 12 schools i am not going to name the school. all i am going to say they are top rated in the cfore survey. we live in south west delhi posh area vasant kunj. now why i am speechless ? well not in a single of the top rated school have the name of their son. only one school waiting list. what in the world when i heard this ? you wont believe that most of the 7 schools are within 5 kms from our house. can you believe it ? i just dont know what to say if this is happening when these schools are within the reach of your neighbourhood. just forget about the distant schools. how come they follow both the point and lottery system. why dont they just follow the lottery where every body just get the chance ? alteast time will be saved. those points are useless where only distant or first born child you get 25 which is a common aggregate. which is the basis for the school to cut the list of those people at the first instant ? what is this a joke ? you have seen that profile photo i have put well it just prove that we have just been made freaking donkeys out of our system.
