Need advice from fellow parents/moderators...

Given a choice to secure seat b/w Soverign and DAV Pushpanjali what should i opt for as first list fees date would be closing in 1-2 days

Also how good Heritage is as compared to the above 2...Is it worth the premium to be paid if one gets hold of a management seat and leave the above 2 schools where first list name is there for my kid

Go for DAV Pushpanjali. Second choice Heritage. Least preference to Sovereign

I agree... Go For DAV Pushpanjali... it has an active management.. and it has latest technologies at a low monthly fees (2500 pm)

Anand and Amit

Can you provide more details on DAV plus points ...i have not received encouraging feedback till now...What I have heard and gather info is that its still sticks to traditional methodology of teaching with a high student teacher ratio :(

Also apart from the fact that heritage is there for 10+ years what other factors are favourable over other corporate schools in this area

Requesting urgent response

Positive Points for DAV:

1) In the top 10 list of HT Schools Survey 2011. It is ranked at position 5, just above DPS, Rohini.     (mainly due to safety, hygiene, academics, value for money).

2) There is a widespread thinking that DAV schools have old process and techniques. However, this particular DAV has a very active management and in the last 2-3 years, new technologies have been introduced (smart boards).

Even in nursery wing, there are smart boards.

   ( Unlike DAV rohini)

3) There is a seperate nursery wing for classes LKG to Class 1.

I personally visited the place and got an apportunity to speak to teachers.

Most classes their had smart boards (working condition).

It was spacious, had a large lawn in the center and also very secure.

    ( unlike DAV Rohini)

4) Nursery wing follows Play way methods of teaching. (unlike DAV Rohini)

5) Has good faculty for higher studies

( info I came to know from students studying in higher classes)

6) To reserve a seat you just require Rs. 12000 .

Monthly fees for nursery is 2500 pm. and they are taking only 10% of April fee

    now.

Negative Points

47 students managed by 1 teacher. I felt this a negative point.

I agree with you amit on other points but few questions

1. Is there a possibility that these surveys can get manipulated even the ones done by HT ?

2. In first few years individual attention for kids, chances of grooming and a method which does not encourage rote learning are the ones which tilt the scales in favour of these new schools

@Puneet: I think the question you should be asking is - "How much can one trust surveys" rather than "Can surveys be manipulated". The two are different questions. Surveys are conducted by prestigious agencies like CFore, Nielsen and IMRB. Their reputation is everything to them - so no Surveys cannot be "manipulated". How much to trust is a different story. All surveys have a margin of error. Surveys are usually based on perception and hence human factors have a major role. If you've just been asked for a donation of 2 Lakhs inside GD Goenka and a surveyor comes over and asks you "On a scale of 1 to 10 how would you rate the school?" Chances are you would not say 10. A larger population is surveyed to try and ensure such incidents are normalized. However, such surveys are based on personal bias and individual perceptions. If you ask anyone on the streets of Delhi about DPS - chances are you will get an excellent response. Outside Delhi, say in Chennai or Mumbai - this may not be the case. So results of Surveys are to be taken with a pinch of salt. Use it as an input - but use your own judgement

very well said anand

I think Every one is praising dav pushpanjali because of less fees and better infrastructure.even i've reserved seat for my son but still searching for better options because of dav fear factor.

@Puneet

Ans1.

DAV is first of all not a luxury private school, which would be interested in manipulating the HT Survey.

Also, HT C-Fore survey is not something new and is being conducted every year. The ranking of 2009 and 2010 is attached. (DAV was at 7th Spot even in 2010, although it missed in 2009).

2. I agree with you on personal grooming of child, but I don't believe the private schools like MAXFORT do it better. Parents have a mental thinking that if they pay more, the child gets more, but each of the private Schools have a back channel in which the money is just sucked from parents but not invested in the child/school. It directly goes into the accounts of the so called Trusts which are run by business-men.

@Charu

The so called "DAV Fear Factor" is due to the fact that DAV chain of schools is not of the same standard as the DPS chain. In case of DAV, some schools lie behind and some are way ahead.  DAV pushpanjali lies in the latter category. That is the reason why I compared it with DAV Rohini in all my points.

I personally visited DAV pushpanjali...It has got good infrastructure...also it has got solid reputation in academics and extra curricular activities. I would rather recommend DAV pushpanajli

I am so confused b/w DAV pushpanjali and heritage rohini.

Dear Anand and Amit

Thanks a lot for your inputs ..We have reserved the seat now but still exploring other channels and if we have to choose b/w a Global/Corporate school only and say probably shell out some money to secure a Mgt seat ; who according to you out of VGS,KRM and Heritage is worth spending that premium amount
