Is there any impact of Nationality of the Child on the School fee

My friends son was born in America and he is a US Citizen by birth. He is residing in India for past 2 years and his son is having PIO card. Now he is trying to get him admitted to school and not sure what should he write in Nationality. If he writes American, he fears that the school might ask NRI fee. Please advise.

If he applies in any normal  school  except schools like pathways , not a single penny would be charges extra
