Nursery Scam- Venkateshwara International School Kids, Dwarka Sec -10

Was called for a meeting at VIS kids today.. Became suspicious when we were asked to deposit mobile phones..before getting into the meeting room. 2 questions were asked- what is our occupation and whether our child goes to any play school. We were clearly communicated that this is a mgmt quota meeting.. The regular seats were filled in by sibling cases.. ( 150 of them.. really)n if we wanted admission.. we need to pay 2 lacs over n above the admission fees.. 

Am totally flabbergasted on this.. Does anyone know of the concerned authority and contact details to lodge a formal complaint.. Any experiences with VIS from this group.. 

Would also appreciate if we can be pre warned of such schools so that we don't waste our money on the forms..

Hi Neha.. 

The admission form for VIS Kids was out 2 weeks back which was surprising as Nursery Admission's usually start in Dec..

Hi Ranjana

I greatly appreciate the big issue you have brought to this forum about VIS kids and I am sure Mr.Vohra will help you raise your voice against the school.  This school not only went against the DOE guidelines but also against RTE act by collecting asking for hefty donation.  Section 13 provides that no school or person shall collect capitation fee or subject a child to any screening procedure, and prescribes a penalty for contravention of these provisions.

No doubt schools are big business organisation with only motive of profit making in mind.

Thanks for highlighting this issue as I'm also one of the parent who faced the same situation yesterday at VIS..  There were lot many questions that we couldn't answered till date. some of them :

1. Why did the admission process started in Sept/Oct. whereas it usually starts in Dec/Jan for Delhi school?

- to this we were replied by school, that this is the first time they've started this process and haven't come with any advertisement. It is only due to word of mouth/ through siblings etc they've started.

2. Interaction was scheduled on Sunday . Non working day normally.

- was this to attract maximum parents ?? don't know.

3. Mobile phones/ Lady's bags were asked to be kept out ??

- why ? do they fear that somebody will record their conversation.

4. Asking 2 lacs straight on the face without asking even a single question about the child ?

- they informed that we will also get receipt of that 2L. strange ??

- they told us that there shall be 2 different cheques ( one for 2L and other for fees)

- the 2L cheque shall be in the name of some society. ( to mark it as donation)

- they also informed that there are only few seats left and hence the call need to be taken within 2 days.

- NOBODY bothered to share the points evaluation.

Looking into all above , me as any other parent who has faced this situation request the group to guide and  provide justice to the kids. I can also put in few other parents who were present there and faced the exact situation.


We also heard off that this year every school shall come with one or the other similar scheme to get your kids admission done.

Dear SP

Thanks for the details on your meeting with VIS yesterday. I did not bother for the details of the payment as i was sure that i would not put my daughter in a school whose management has no moral ethics.

After the meeting, i felt very cheated by the school and thought of sharing this with other fellow parents. I have already raised a complaint on Dept of Education's website thanks to the details sent by a fellow member and await action.

BTW, how many other parents are you in touch with from yesterday's interaction. Maybe Sakshi- The moderator can guide us of any other way to take this discussion further in case all are in agreement.

Ranjana, If want to wait for DOE , you can think and wait ( last year hundreds of complaints but no action was taken), how many of you would like to take the initiative. 

The only way to highlight is in media .Lets see how many can come out and stand for your own rights . As media would like to talk to suffered party before highlighting (your identity will be kept secret in case you wish to)

I was also about to bring this to notice of all parents who are seeking admission in VIS Kids before you did. Thanks anyways for this.
I am also one of those parents who were called for interaction with VIS Sec-10 Dwarka on 07 Oct 2012. One of my friend was also invited by VIS Kids.
I can also confirm what you said is 100% correct. Same was true with my friend.
Before entering the Headmistress room, the receptionist asked us to deposit our mobile phones and bags. I knew something is fishy.
When we entered the room, only two questions asked from us:
1. Whats your occupation?
2. Is your child going to any play school?

Then they asked us if we know the fee structure. After that they directly came to the point without wasting any time.. that apart from fees, we will have to pay 2
Lakhs by cheque and we will get a receipt for this. I directly asked them by any chance are you filling up the management seats? They said yes. Then I asked them what
about the normal seats admission. They said we have so many sibling cases in our school and normal seats all are already full.
They said we will call you after 3 days to confirm about your decision. So these school people will be calling all the parents on their phone on 10 Oct12 (who visited
them on 07th Oct 12) to confirm if parents are ready to pay hefty amount of Rs 2 Lakhs.

I am very much disappointed here for many reasons with VIS (Kids) School Sec 10 Dwarka:
1. Why school is forcing parents to buy the prospectus along with the form which costs Rs 400.
2. Why they did not inform parents earlier (at the time of selling their forms) that their normal seats are already full and they are filling up the management
quota/seats.
3. How come their normal seats get full before 07 Oct 2012 where as per DOE guidelines, their admission procedure should start in Dec 12.
4. They are still selling out the forms (along with mandatory prospectus) for Rs 400 without informing parents that they are filling their management seats.
5. Why Hindutan Times declared that school as 3rd top school in west delhi if such school's behavior is so unethical.
6. What development of our child we can expect from such schools those who ask for donation in new modern ways like telling parent that we are filling up the
management seats and normal seats are already full.

I would request newspaper agencies (like Hindustan times) who bring such list and keep them on 3rd number to visit this forum and highlight such issues about school.
If the school is ranked low for such issues, they will not dare to play such tactics to earn donation.

I heard feedback from many parents as well that they also ask for donation that ranges from Rs 30K-50K in cash and for which they do not give the receipt.
Parents have no choice other than to give donation to confirm their kids admission (if they can afford it).

This school is very smart as when DOE will enquire them they will say we are taking admissions for VIS Kids and not VIS Sec-10 for which DOE may not take any action.

The fact everyone know is if your child got admission in Pre-School in VIS Kids, you child admission will be confirmed in VIS Sec-10 main school after two years. For
just formality sake, they will display the list of parents along with their numbers. 99% of the parents are those who got their admission in VIS kids 2 years back.

This school is not worth it. They have lots of arrogance/attitude after they have seen their name in 3rd top school in west delhi by Hindustan Times.

My advice to parents: Plz do not buy any admission form of VIS Kids as what I heard is they have also sold approx 3000 forms and which states they have already cheated
3000 parents.

Will try to record their conversation when they will call us and ask for our confirmation if we are ready to pay Rs 2 Lakh cheque.

Request all parents who visited VIS Kids Sec-10 Dwarka on 07th Oct 2012 (Sunday) to do the same so that we can collect the evidence against the school. They will definitely call all the parents asking for their confirmation.

If someone has any contacts in media, this can make some pressure on school not to do any such unethical activities.
