Dwarka school violates nursery admission rules, Hindustan Times | AN.com Parents Unmasks VIS Sec 10 Dwarka Flouting DOE Guidelines by starting Nursery Admissions and asking for Rs 2 Lac Donation

Dwarka school violates nursery admission rules

The Delhi government may still be more than a month away from declaring nursery admission guidelines but a top school in Dwarka has already begun the admission process.
Venkateshwar International School (VIS) Kids started selling forms for nursery admissions last month and began
interactions with parents last week in complete violation of the Directorate of Education (DoE) rules “All I want to know is how the school began its admission process when the admission guidelines have not been declared,” said a parent.

But this is not the only wrongdoing the school has been accused of. A number of parents have alleged that they were asked to pay a donation of R2 lakh to ensure their child’s admission.

“I was called for a meeting at VIS Kids on Sunday. The headmistress asked me and my husband about our occupation and whether our child went to a play school. We were clearly told that the interaction was for a management quota seat and if we wanted admission, we needed to pay Rs 2 lakh over and above the admission fee,” said Ranjana, a parent who first reported the matter on the parents’ forum www.admissionsnursery.com. A complaint in the matter has also been filed with the DoE.

The principal of the school however denied the allegations. “Since we do not fall under the parent school, which is the Venkateshwar International School, we thought we did not have to follow guidelines for nursery admissions. As for the allegations of demanding a donation, I categorically deny them. A frustrated parent misbehaved with me in school a few days ago and I think he has spread this rumour,” said the headmistress of the school, who did not want reveal her name.

Director of Education Amit Singla, meanwhile, made it clear that all schools conducting nursery admissions will have to follow their guidelines. “As for the allegations of donations in return for admission, we will investigate the matter,” Singla said.

Thanks a lot Ranjana ji for this courage to stand out against such erratic school..and my sincere thanks as always to Sumit sir to stand up to the causes of parent community and creating an effective detterent for such schools year after year.

With Sumit sir's intervention, now HT has published it widely and DOE has acknowledged the same, we hope that the authorities take strict actions against any of such NCT school violating the RTE&DOE guidelines.

Dear All

I must congratulate parent community  and specially Ranjana and other 3 parents who did not hesitate coming in open and talking to media.

I was informed by Mallica Joshi from HT that admissions were stopped yesterday only when she took VIS kid version .

If same trend continues we will not allow any school to flout the DOE & RTE guidelines.

All the parents are requested to inform us  regarding any erring school !!

Best

Thanks Sumit, Mallica and Sakshi as well as other parents who have supported this. This is the first time that i have raised my voice and fought for a basic right of my child's education.

I think most of us feel that a single or few voices make a change... but i have seen the power of our voice today . Lets all stand up for our rights always.

I definitely will.

Thanks Bij sir for always helping parent community. Whether its Delhi or Ncr.

I would like to thanks Mallica Joshi (HT) and www.admissionnursery.com for bringing this in Media. I along with many parents have already confirmed that VIS Kids asked for Rs 2 Lakhs by cheque apart from the fees and they said we are filling up the Management seats and our normal seats are already full by sibling cases.

Headmistress is lying. Can we ask Headmistress of VIS Kids "If they don't fall under parent school and they don't have to follow DOE guidelines then why are they asking for Rs 2 Lakhs?? Why did they ask all parents to keep mobile phones and wallets before interaction?"

I think everyone knows the fact. After 2 years in VIS Kids, the kid will be moved to VIS main school in 1st Class. At that time, just for formality sake, they put the list of the selected kids and almost all kids selected are those who got admission in VIS Kids 2 years back.
Please get the school records checked for last few years as well and you will yourself find out how many kids are transferred from VIS Kids to VIS main school (that is supposed to follow DOE guidelines) and why they are asking for Rs 2 Lakhs apart from fees.
And as per feedback from other parents whose kids are studying in VIS already (Cant disclose names), this is not the first time they are asking for donation, they have been following such practices since quiet long time.

Only the ways of asking donation has changed. Earlier they used to ask for cash and now they are asking by cheque.

Everyone wants India to be a corruption free nation. Asking/Giving donation for school admission is a type of Corruption. Parents are being forced to pay such donation and participate in corruption. All parents want their kids to study in a reputed school and they are left with no choice.

Its a complete burden on parents... first pay hefty school fees which is appox 20-25K quarterly and now pay 2 Lakh rupees for admission.

Yes Rajesh, your statement  is 100% correct and thanks for educating and helping the parents community.

I was also called up on Saturday for discussion and Principal directly asked for Rs 2Lacs without bothering about even looking at the child. I hope there is really some strict action against such schools. In our country, primary education is now right of every child but in this scenario its insulting our fundamental rights !! May God bless India else that day is not far when only those children will be studying in schools whose parents have the capacity to bribe

Thanks

Yes Ruchi, You are spot on and you must be aware that VIS kids (sec 10) has stopped nursery admissions

Parents are requested to watch the video (IN 2 PARTS) above and should not fall into any trap as in previous years also 7-8 schools started admissions before DOE common admission schedule( names mentioned in video) But the admissions were stopped midway after Mr Vohra's Intervention.

Even we were asked the same amount last year, under management quota, but we did not admit our son into this school. We were also called much before the first list was out...I guess this  is a regular practise in VIS kids
