Dear Mr Bij :)

THE POINTS SYSTEM  I PROP0SED  YESTERDAY TO SOME REPORTERS WERE 80-90% SAME AS YOURS

Distance - 50 Points ( MAX)

Sibling - 20 - 25 Points

Rest - Except Alumni (0) points ( But yours is more practical approach as school lobby won't accept abolishing alumni points so easily)

i told them rest can be given as per consent of all the  3 stake holder ( Parents ..Doe.... Schools )

How come  we (  you..me and Lathaaji ) have the same logic :)

Sumit, shouldn't sibling points be equal to first child? This is to be fair to the only child.

@Pooja Mr Vohra Logic is alumni means any individual who has studied till 10th or 12 th and our Law says (RTE) no point can be given on basis of education because then how will uneducated individual compete with educated individual. He has taken legal opinion also and he is right but school lobby will certainly give alumni points to do indirect screening.

Think about those people who neither have sibling or alumni points , last year all the parents who got their kids selected  in Dps /Mothers/Springdales( for example) were either alumni or sibling cases ( except handful numbers in DPS Rkp) if i m not wrong Mothers Int waiting were also either sibling or alumni cases . where the an average parent will go ?

Yes Mr Sumit  Vohra is  100 % right

My point is also exactly the same as yours Sakshi....i am also from the section wherein i neither have alumni nor sibling points. I totally agree with doing away with Alumni points on the logic of RTE.

I think you got my comment wrong. I just mean to say that shouldn't first or only child be given same points as sibling points. This is to be fair to kids who do not have a elder sibling who could have possibly studied in that school.

On Alumni, no points or atleast least points.

@Pooja Sibling points all parents want. As sending two different kids to different schools has many complications for them as per feedback .if you wish i can elaborate.. yes first child should get substantial points..lets say 15 if sibling is getting 20-25. or as per our poll if school lobby gives same points to alumni as per last year then equal to first child point that is 20-25 points for level playing field.

Thanks a lot Sir for supporting the parents and taking this particular issue to media since many parents complain from this particular area regarding neighbourhood schools. Still more pressure has to given from media by your support. Let's  leave no stone remain unturned from our side.

Dear lathaaji

Thanks for Your's and Mr Bij's unconditional support !!

agreed

Mr.Bij

Thanks for being a great support for Delhi and NCR parents. Good analysis and if govt remove alumni points from your list it would be more fair. A school allotted 30 points for girl child and some 20 points for the same. Even few schools allotted 20 to 25 points for transfer cases. Govt should fix a uniform point system like yours which can be applicable to all schools.

I have a point to make to Mr. Vohra. I appreciate his efforts for the cause of parents. But if we fix distance as the main criteria for admission to schools, then this system also has problems. Consider the plight of parents, who want their child to go to a good school, but they cant just because they dont have a good school in radius of 4-5 kilometres. These parents will always suffer & will have to send their kids to not-so-good schools, just because they are in their neighborhood. In this case few colonies will always suffer, because of no fault of theirs & other few colonies will always gain, because of their proximity to some good school. Tell me, if a person dreams of sending his kid to a good school, even if that school is 10-12 kilometres away, is this wrong? If we fix distance as main criteria & abolish other points, where will be the variation? Why oppose alumni points at all? For those parents, who have spent good 12 years in a particular school & if they are entitled some points by the school, for admission of their kids, how is this wrong? If we follow only distance as main criteria, then why not send our kids to nearest government school? Will parents agree to that? Therefore, I feel that there must be some variation & other heads like alumni, sibling, first child, etc are also important. We cannot do away with them. Therefore, my advise is that one basket does not fit all. Otherwise, the parents will still be sufferers & next year we will again working on a new formula. Something should not be done hastily for which parents of current year admissions have to repent later.
