As of now, children above four can’t apply at entry level
The state advisory board for education will hold a meeting on Thursday to discuss the upper age limit for nursery admissions, Directorate of Education sources said.
Recently, the board decided that “for pre-school, the child should not be more than 3 years, 11 months and 30 days, as on March 30 of the start of academic year in which the admission is sought”. Parents had protested against this decision.
Sumit Vohra, founder of admissionsnursery.com, said the gap between maximum and minimum age limit is too little.
“We want a gap of two years between the minimum and the maximum age limit for nursery admission. Where will those parents who were not able to get there children admitted in a decent school last year go?” he said.
He gave the example of central schools which allow a longer gap between upper and lower age limits, and asked if private schools in Delhi were not doing something unconstitutional.
With only around 10 days left for nursery admissions to start parents are getting worried.
“Last year, my child was just three years and a few days old and there was no upper age limit, so we thought to let him continue another year in playschool and were planning to get him admitted this year,” said a parent.
Parents urged that some of them should be part of the advisory board meeting so that better guidelines are framed for nursery admissions.

Thanks Sumit sir...great initiative being taken by you.
Definitely as per RTE also a child should be 6+ in class 1..and as I have seen in many states including Karnataka and also nearby in NCR ( DPS Noida, DPS Indirapuram,Father Agnel etc.) children upto 4 and Half years are also taken in Nursery class.
This will be a great relief to parents who could not get their kids admitted in previous year and are facing lot of difficulty in admitting them in KG due to limited or no vacancy available.
Plus this will keep all these schools Public schools, KVs and Govt Schools in level playing field by having uniform standards across.
All the best.

Thanks for the initiative Sir. All the parent community is with you to raise their voices. It would definitely a relief for parents who could not secure admission for kids last year and especially children who have borderline birth month (Jan,Feb,March).
I really don't understand what is the significant difference btw a child born on March 28 and another one born on April 2 (same year). Does a minimal gap of few days really dis-impower a child? Children with borderline birth months are under much pressure.
Hello,
We are also tense since this is been released. Our son was also turned 3 and we made him continue in pre-nursery in play school. Now it will b tough to get him admission in KG as seats are limited. Last year didn't had any upper limit.
We are hoping that for 2 years upper cut off limit by DOE.
Thank u so much Mr. Vohra for taking up this issue. My son was 3+at the time of admissions last year, and as there was no mention of an upper age limit we let him continue in his play school, thinking that by this year he would be more confident and better equipped to handle a formal school environment. But teh guidelines this year plunged us in deep worry.
Hope your efforts and our prayers pay off! AMEN
sumit sir i am personally thankful to u because the problem i am facing because of these age criteria i am fed up i have gone personally to so many schools all of them said come in march end for KG then we will decide i am fed up of listening to these words i hope by these cause we will get some relief we all are with you anytime thanx a lot
Thanks a lot Sir. Only due to your great pressure through media regarding the minimum gap of upper age limit Advisory Committee has come forward to review the same. I concur to your statements. As per RTE Act people have rights to get education and the main motive was to provide education to all. So hope and wish Advisory Committee will come up with minimum age plus two as the upper cut off age.
