WHICH ONE CATEGORY SHOULD BE REMOVED THAT IS ACCEPTABLE TO EVERYONE ?

what's your cut-off?
I believe that for both alumini as well as sibling there should be one category and points either 5 or 10 to be allocated against that category. So in any case benefit of either of the two to be given to the parents. This way school can also be happy to have their loyal parents as well as the parents would also not feel bitter of the point system.
At the same time I believe, the points with regards to the distance should be more and should have more category in it ranging from reduction in 5 marks for every 2 km.
I too agree with u.. Recently I heard few people belonging to lower management in an office that they got issued an EWS certificate when they were jobless for school admissions for their kids.. But has the education department ever thought of the repercussions this might have on the kids belonging to EWS category. This will certainly create divides as per the status.. Plus to add to it this will create complexes in the children belonging to this category when they will grow up..
Amit: I personally believe this is nothing but vote bank politics. However, this is the only way the underpriviliged have any shot at getting decent education. Having said that - what it more interesting is how the Govt came up with this figure of 25% reservations for EWS? Why not 10% .. why not 40% ?
I think it was just a fancy number that the politicos came up with 10 years back and has since gone unchallenged. The parent community should file a PIL and challenge the basis of allocation of 25% seats for EWS!
Alumni should be removed or if they want to give preference it should not be more than 5 points out of 100. schools give maximum points to this criteria.
The sibling criteria is reasonable & a positive one but it must be capped at a maximum of 50% of the general seats available. The alumni criteria is in fact a discriminatory one & should be removed. What about those who have studied outside Delhi (in other cities) in equally good schools? This is nothing but narrow regionalism in the Capital of India !!!! supported by the state & judiciary.
You are right. it seems that these criterias have just been added for the sake of it with minimum point allocation, however it should be vice versa.
In my opinion they should keep both the categories and have reserved seats for them, so that people who are neither an alumni nor they have sibling are still eligible to earn points and get their kids admitted.
