Form Dates | Admission Criteria | Results | Fee Details | List of All Schools
Sakshi, I think many parents would want to know why the courts are acting at this point of time on a PIL filed two years ago. It's not always really/exactly about who filed it. Do you have a timeline of this PIL that you could share with us?
according to me ONLY LOTTERY system should be adopted where everyone gets equal chance of selection or at most some points to distance may be given.no points to sibling or girl child to be given.as for those who have only one son can suffer due to points given to sibling.
Yes Simrita... Tomorrow court will ask marriages to be done by draw of lots.... :D
Why can't parents prefer which school their child should study in?
Yeah, parents can prefer but why only some parents get to prefer? Why I cannot admit my child in a nearby school which is not even a great school, just because people with siblings, alumni, and transfer points upset the charts?
All parents should suffer equally. Everybody should have a piece of the pie called Opportunity.
First you admit your first born with alumni/transfer/divorcee/awardee points. Then you utilize sibling points to admit your second child.
Sakshi, first of all, I don't think you need to be defensive about why you're running this website. Nor should you be defensive about not being the authority.
Ms. Simrita's logic is clear. She is saying that she does not want to send her child to a nearby school because that school is not up to the mark. So she wants to utilize unfair criteria to gain more points in distant but reputed schools. She is not bothered about whether all parents in her neighbourhood get an equal opportunity to apply for distant but reputed schools. Her child should not go to the bad school, other's children can. Because clearly, not all parents who want to avoid the nearby school will have an unfair advantage in the points system with silly nonsensical criteria such as transferable jobs, siblings, single parents etc. She just wants to maintain the status quo because after all it works to her advantage.
And if the points system must go then it should go on this very basis. Everybody should have an equal opportunity, NOT GUARANTEE, to seek admission in all reputed schools.
Proximity to the school is a factor that affects the child physically. If a school has 100 seats, 50 of them should be reserved for neighbourhood kids and allocated using a draw of lots. The remaining should be open for kids from 5 to 10 km distance and allocated using a draw of lots. No kid should be allowed to travel more than 10 km from their home.
Will this solve all the problems. NO. But is it a more fair system than the current draconian, unfair points system. Yes.
There won't be any shame in not getting your child admitted in a good school if you and everyone knew that getting admission to good schools is a matter of luck, not unfair advantage. And all schools will eventually develop.
As long as discrimination exists, schools will capitalize on their brand value.
Shiv,I concur with most of your points.
The honourable court should also make crystal clear Neighborhood or distance criteria i.e within 0 - 3/5 km should mean a perimetre of 3 or 5 km from school i.e taking school as centre point and 3 to 5 km in each and every direction. Schools are having distance criteria on their own whims & fancies.
We, as parents, DONT want any more confusions. PLEASE SPARE US FROM ALL THIS.
I want to understand as to WHO IS GETTING BENEFITED from SUCH NUISANCE and that too AT THIS STAGE??
Where did ALL THESE PEOPLE DISAPPEAR couple of MONTHS back??
Totally agree with Simrita/Ashish. Why give weightage to distance ? Fake rent agreeemnts can easily be made for address proof. Either let the admission process continue as is or there should be only draw of lots. RTE ACT itself needs to be reviewed. Has court asked govt where is the money for implementing EWS reservation ? The govt and court should strictly implement all the provisions rather than piecemeal review based on random petitions filed by NGOs.
Looks like Ayush, Ashish, and Simrita have secured seats for their children in schools of their choice. They don't care about other folks who are suffering because of this draconian points system.
And yes neighbourhood points should exist. Because proximity to the school is a factor that affects the child physically. And we dont stop making laws because of the fear that they will be broken. It's a different matter altogether.
Shiv, my view was to present the downside of these two criterias. There is no garantee that admission process based on these two criterias will be fair! I am in the same boat as you are. Everyone has a right express their view and thats what I did. If you read my comment properly, you would realise that I didnot advocate long distance travel for small children, especially with incidents happening in buses these days, I am one of the paranoid parents of a girl child, who cannot think of letting her travel in a bus for a short distance. I would respect if individual remarks are not passed on other people.
