Heritage School Vasant Kunj Admission process is poorly governed.

The school authority asked the parents present during the draw to write their ward name on a peice of paper and put in the lottery box for draw.

Anybody (me) who got delayed for unforeseen reasons or missed the draw was automatically barred from the admission even after being eligible for the draw

Is this the right practice?

No. School must have taken responsibility and included the names who could not make out for the draw. Admission policy and procedure differ from school to school and how can we expect transparency?

Arjun, you are right. This is not acceptable and in fact, amounts to cheating because not even once Heritage School indicated that presence of parents is compulsory during the draw. Nowhere on their site, it was mentioned. No email and no phone call to parents who were eligible for draw. I wonder what kind of school ranking survey did Hindustan Times conducted when last year it said that Heritage School almost made it to top Top 10 schools in South West Delhi.

@Asad - I completely agree with you.
@Arjun - I understand your concern about parents who might not haven been able to reach the school, but the the procedure was indeed transparent. Check http://www.admissionsnursery.com/m/discussion?id=2660304%3ATopic%3A...
I post this here again on Sakshi's suggestion.

Thanks Aditi .

You're most welcome, Sakshi.
the school had no proper arrangements as to what time the gate wud opn n close.. it was like a fish market as there was noone to chk at the entry. the box was a square... chits were made by parents hence duplication as they askdparents to drop it in the box.... parents walking in whn draws were being announced.horrible,chaotic, mismanaged...

Lovina, I fully agree. Unless the draw system is computerised and supervised by officials of the Directorate of Education, it will always be open to manipulation. I live just two km from Heritage School, but had no clue that presence of parents is compulsory. Transparency demands that every child eligible for draw must get an opportunity in the draw irrespective of the parent not present. At least Tagore International and Bloom School followed this principal in the last two days. In fact, Tagore made a video recording of the draw and sent the CD to DOE.

the school authority replied - can somebody validate this?

Dear Mr. Ahlawat,

While displaying the list of eligible candidates for draw of lots, the school has mentioned that the attendance of one of the parent or their representative is mandatory at the time of draw of lots i.e 28.01.2013 at 10:00 am, otherwise their child's name will not be put for lottery / draw of lots. The eligibility list was displayed on the school website as well as on the Notice Board from 22.01.2013 to 28.01.2013 for the information of all the parents those who have registered their children.

Would like to inform Heritage School that I am a journalist, and I had seen the name of my girl child for the selection in the draw to be held on 28th of January. However, school had not mentioned that presence of the parent or representative is mandatory. If school had put up this information, why it has been removed? Where is the list of those who were selected for draw on the basis of 70 points? It has been removed from the website. Question is why the presence of parent or representative is mandatory?
