The grind of nursery admissions has inspired many parents to pen their experiences. The stories of their angst and the experience they gained — right from forms to points system and informal interaction — is all at hand now to provide tips to the uninitiated.

“My book is based on my experiences as a parent,” says Sumit Vohra, who recently launched his Nursery School Admissions: Tips and Suggestions. “It contains information about the points system adopted by the sought-after schools, what documents parents need to take along etc,” he says.

The 130-page book is priced at Rs 150.

And the books have a ready audience. Harried parents are ready to turn to anything that offers some answers.

Satyendra Gupta, a software engineer from East Delhi's Vasundhara Enclave does not take interest in books generally. “But now I have to go through books as I do not want to take any chances,” he says.”

Khyati Mahindra, a resident of Patel Nagar, who is looking for a seat for her daughter Leiasha, says: “I did not know one has to take so much care while filling the online form. At least some help is at hand.”For people like them, Vohra's book could be a starting point. As Vohra says, “it has at least 150 questions and three answers to each question are given.” .

The city might see some more authors in the coming days.

Regarding the new trend, Usha Ram, Principal of Laxman Public School, Hauz Khas, however, says: “Parents are just panicking. There is no need to panic. Schools are offering prospectus, which they are not ready to buy but they are ready to buy these books.”
