Nursery criteria same, but parents still wary

New Delhi: The decision has been taken but parents are still wary. The Directorate of Education (DoE) has been informed by the office of the lieutenant governor of Delhi that for the 2014-15 session, the process of nursery admissions—points assigned to “categories” or parameters-—followed by most private unaided schools in the city remains unchanged.
    The Delhi high court had directed the LG to take a call on the matter and DoE officials have said they’ll seek more time for LG to decide on “long-term changes.”
    While many parents are relieved that the old system continues for this session, the possibility of the high court upsetting things has some worried. They are wondering if this means delays in the process.
    “So when do we expect the forms for schools to be out?” asks a parent. “This means admissions might not start from January 1 like every year and more delay in admissions and parents getting stuck,” says another.
    “Many parents who are unaware of what happened last year feel the points system should be common for all schools. Also many parents are in panic mode regarding admission dates. People feel admissions might be delayed and not start from January 1, 2014,” says Sumit Vohra of admissionsnursery .com.
    However, officials have said they will issue general guidelines like they do every year. “The routine will also be broadly the same,” said an official.
    The LG decision has especially peeved lawyer-activist Khagesh Jha who had challenged the “categorization”
and the points system in court in the first place.
    “The high court directed the LG to take decision on Social Jurist representation within 12 weeks in September 2013. For all these months they did nothing and now they want still more time to decide. The truth is the points system and categorization are legally indefensible and they know it. All they can do is constantly delay the process. There was no rush. This discussion’s been on for years,” says Jha.
    The lawyer-activists group Social Jurist has challenged the system of “categorization”, arguing that ‘distance’ —proximity to school—is the only legally valid criterion.
    The other parameters, including ‘sibling’ (points to younger siblings of alreadyenrolled students) and ‘alumni’ (points to children of alumni), amount to “screening” and are, therefore, not permissible by the Right to Education Act, 2009, the group argues.
    The high court’s decision to not interfere with current guidelines has also been challenged by Social Jurist in the Supreme Court.

So when we expect...Schools will start providing admission Forms for Nursery Class , its Same alike 1st - 15th jan 2014 or it will be delay?

I heard some of schools starting there admission process by 15 Dec 2013.Is this true?Please share your thoughts here.

What about the point system? if parents belong to general category?First Child / Girl ?First child / Girl would be consider under different section(Point System) ? OR ?

All schools are starting admission process from January. I have called some 15 schools yesterday and got this reply only. So wait till December end...
