You didn't get into the school near your house, may be, because they had low points for neighbourhood. that is the root cause. NOT your professional background.
I said earlier and I repeat (please read my earlier comment): EACH AND EVERY CRITERION in the point system is to discriminate. The minute you have 100 seats and 1000 applications you NEED TO DISCRIMINATE! Now the question is what is a valid parameter for discrimination and what is not?
If the schools want to give higher preference to, say, kids with doctor parents so be it. But as long as they have points for other criteria like "distance/girl/alumni/sibling" and so on I think it is still a fair game.

Suffering for What? For violating the rights of others.
It is not a matter of suffering a few parents. It is a question of our 'fundamental right of equal opportunity'. Existing point system violates our children's fundamental rights. It should be immediately voided.
