This is scary
Flop guidelines.
It's really not a flop but paves way for a transparent system if adopted in right manner. But still needs some review. Next government can switch over for a centralized admission process after fee regulation process. Due to constant court cases there is a fear of uncertainty among parents which may forced them to apply in more schools.
Very right, centralized process is surely needed, otherwise in the last few years of admission what parents were doing was applying with one address in one school and different address in different school, as they held Voter IDs of different addresses, without any fear. Now increase in distance criterion will surely stop this malpractice !
Latha ji, Schools are receiving 1000 and more applications under EWS/DG group category against an average vacancy of 60-80 at the most. Dte asked to submit their full details with addresses and phone nos. How much manpower is lost in feeding their details manually. What is the sense once 0-1 kms radius will get preference. Do you think seats will remain vacant due to procurement of fake documents and otherwise also.
For open seats also, I was against point system. My take was for completely transparent lottery system to which parent community responded negatively. Now just tell me is the present guidelines are not going for lottery system in majority? Do you support admissions on lottery? What will happen to those who will not get even after applying in 100 schools?
On the onset of these guidelines parents were very happy to see the extended limit of distance to 8 kms and thought now they are having better chances for their ward's admission. And now same parent community is opposing the 8 kms due to giving path to draw of lots. What is this? Is this not a mockery of our Edn system? Why the govt. is not waking up with the start of new academic session 1st April every year to analyze the pros and cons appropriately. This is what is to be termed " Unjust thinking". What was wrong with our earlier system?
people from well to do family coming from cars are having ews certificate simply coz they dont file tax so no income proof strange
I partially agree with you. But the main problem in earlier system was parents were not able to get a seat for their kids in neighbouring schools just 10 ft. away due to lot of categories favoured by the schools.
Adding to the flop system, somewhere I read in newspaper or on this forum itself regarding sting at SDM/Tehsildar office issuing income certificates instantly without carrying out verification which takes atleast 10-15 days time. Now if schools want to verify the same directly from that office or through DoE, do you think the officer issued the certificate will say it was issued without verification. He will never say "NO". and there will be a clean chit to the verification with "Verified" comments. Genuine Certificate. Now who will challenge? Same with general category applicants, how to challenge transfer cases? Plz suggest and share your experience, let the deserving be given opportunity. Shame on the system, needs lots of reforms.
yeh to wahi baat huwi mera kaam bane bhadd me jaye jane. Sorry, if hearted you.
The guidelines are nothing but dependence on lottery for admission. Its like going to a Casino and hoping that your number is the lucky number to win the jackpot.
Can't see what is so transparent about them.
Approximately 41 applicants competing for a single seat also shows that there is a tremendous brand consciousness among the parents for certain schools in the city.
Ya the main reason for so much applications in a particular school is BRAND CONSCIOUSNESS only. I fully agree with you lathaa as parents want to send their child in far off school without taking into consideration the distance their little one has to cover
