NEIGHBOURHOOD POINTS NO GUARANTEE FOR ADMISSION
NEW DELHI: The nursery admission guidelines that gave neighbourhood the upper hand in nursery admissions may have brought a smile on the faces of many parents. But despite getting 70 points, admission in a school of their choice is going to be very tough.
Based on analysis of data posted by schools on their websites, it has become clear that staying close to a school will give parents a very small window of opportunity for admission and that admission is very difficult for those single children whose parents are migrants.
At Delhi Public School, Vasant Kunj, for example, of the 130 nursery seats on offer, there are 127 parents who have scored 75 points or more. This leaves 1,426 applicants with 70 points for three seats.
At DPS East of Kailash, of the 117 seats on offer, 79 will be filled by those who have more than 75 points. For the remaining 38 seats a lottery will be held among 308 students who have secured 75 points.
The figures also contain duplicate applications, a feature that is sure to be repeated across schools.(Sumit Vohra)

The figures are alarming and upto quite extent unjust. Already facing huge problems because of upper age limit, due to unavoidable circumstances. This just adds to it.

This shows total mismanagement and lack of foresight on the part of government bodies. Given the ratio of the no. of applications to the no. of seats in schools, kids who will get selected will be really lucky!
Nothing can be more pathetic in a country than this that small children's fate is decided by lucky draw. I am totally against inter-state transfer points also.. it leaves Delhi's own children with less points and no chance of even competing with 75 point holders. Absolutely disgusting.. I am not sure what holds in future for my daughter. I have applied in 19 schools and have 70 points points in each school.. what if her name does not get picked in 19 draws that will happen? and leave aside where seats will be filled by 75 or above points holders. Will she not go to any school? This is not the way a decent and intelligent government should run this whole admission procedure! All of us are totally fed-up and, at the same time, unsure of what will happen now... :(

Sibling point will benefit people in one school only where sibling is and also alumni points from the school one has studied but transfer points is an additional 5points one gets everywhere

OMG 42! Great shot and hardworking! You will surely hit target. In my area there are not so many schools could apply to 8 and one school will accept form from 10-12. How pathetic is my situation where for every seat more than 100 application are there?

I think we should go back to d time when admissions use to be first come first serve and interview bases... that will result in filling less forms and more opportunities.. all this have turned me into a depression patient... thinking all night what's stored for my child... worst point system in d history..my first born stand no wear besides living in d same lane of Shriram school

Its sad esp for you...imagine a guy living far away from school with a fake interstate transfer letter will get into the best schools..this country corrupts you and rewards people who can lie.....

Seriously... admissions are nightmare even after securing 70 points in best of schools like Shriram, Vasant valley. Modern vv, dps n many more my child stands nowhere
