NEW DELHI: Thrilled earlier by the new nursery admission guidelines, parents whose children were not made part of the lottery are now fuming.
Parents who have managed to score only 70 points through the neighbourhood criteria are a worried lot as most schools have not included them in their first lottery.
“Most schools have conducted the lottery among those students who have managed to score more than 75 points. The seats are being filled mostly by those children who have siblings in the same schools or whose parents are alumni,” said Sumit Vohra, founder, admissionsnursery.com.
Another big issue that has cropped up is the transfer points. Under the new guidelines, any child whose parents have been transferred to the city will be given 5 points.
A number of parents have alleged that those living in Gurgaon, Faridabad and Noida are taking advantage of the interstate transfer points.
“I don’t understand why anyone has to be given extra points for a transfer? Since neighbourhood is ideally the biggest deciding factor,”
According to experts, the first list will be contentious, filled with children who have got points in the sibling, alumni and transfer categories.
“We don’t want to condemn the guidelines. They are better than last year but neighbourhood points should have been given in a staggered manner so that a child who lived within a three kilometer radius would be assured of admission,” Vohra added

Even i am very much depressed. I think we will get chance in other schools ( other than top 10) Don't loose hope.
Guys, dont lose hope. consider this, if there are 300 Tfr cases for DPS RK Puram and we assume all of these get admission.
For rest of south delhi schools, there will not be many tfr cases left. Anyone living in south delhi would have definitely applied to DPS RKP.
Even if they have also applied in other schools, DPS would be most parents first choice.
I am sure this will be the case. Situation looks really bleak now as it is only the DPS that is giving full visibility to parents. This school is on top of everyone's list.
So things will be much better in other schools. But yes, the onus lies on the schools to weed out fake tfr cases. Then again what is their (school's) interest in it to spend more time and energy to weed out the fakes. For them there is not much difference between child A or B .
Its not that simple. All transfer folks have applied in all other schools too and because of these folks the lottery will never come to 70 points. on 28th you will have a situation that all theses folks will have there name in almost all the lists and no 70 will appear. also this will lead the second lists and this leaves the system open to corruption as by that time parents will be in so much chaos that they will use all sources to get there ward in. the irony is that all lists have to come on 28th and all will mostly have wards with 75 pointers +.
Interstate transfer criterion may be sensitised once more. Most schools merely ask if the job is transferable. It does not mention the period within which the transfer should have occurred. Secondly inter-state transfer and intra-state transfer are different and by state it means Delhi-NCR. It is possible that many applicants would have mentioned yes in the interstate transfer checkbox without ascertaining the criterion. I feel sorry for the schools. Whether they should check the documents and then conduct the lottery or conduct the lottery and then check the documents. Let's pat on the back of the schools and allow them to do their job. I believe document verification would eventually show some light at the end of the tunnel for 70ers. I guess panic will be on the cards. A 70er on the first list may pay the fees in one school and see his ward's name in good schools during the third list.
Again sensitising the inter-state transfer criterion is need of the hour.
Even if same names come up in all schools list, they eventually will take admission only in one. Second lists will be considerably bigger.
True, there will be some nerves. But in absence of centralized admissions, this is expected to be.
Oh you mean that let the elite people devour the seats of DPS, Mothers Internationals, Modern School and of their ilk, and the common people hailing from the middle class enjoy the leftovers.....in third rate schools....what a joke you're cracking man....listen, there is only one solution lies there: reserve 30% seats to those kids having siblings, alumni and transfer considerations and rest 70% give them to children holding 70 points. When 90% of applicants in Delhi schools are having 70 points then why would 100% seats would be given to khandani elite people holding 75, 90, 95 points.......the days are over when the rich, and well connected people could buy best of education to their kids while keeping common middle class people licking dust.....
