Is alumni points justified

Untill and unless alumni points are scrapped together with transfer pointers than only we 70 pointers will not get seat in any school.As I feel in all schools where draw is for 75 pointers ,50% are alumni and hence they are in waistline.now  those  seat will get confirmed after transfer r put in 70 points and there will not be any chance for 70 pointers.Schools will not take the pain to redraw and they will only fill the vacant seat from the wait list. Alumni r always welcome in every schoolSo we have to appeal for scarping of alumni points also and only than it will be fair for all kids..

Disabled child is already part of the EWS quota.

I agree with Priyanka. Alumni points are awarded only to 1 particular school where the parents had passed out unlike transfer case where they get 75 points in all schools. SO, alumni point is justified.

I Agree, Alumni points should be considered . If not considered, then sibling points should also be scrapped.

Well if that blanket rule is applied for all educational instituitons... good luck getting your child into an IIM or an IIT coz we have "reservation" there.

Spending your life in school does not make it your club... really love your school ?? contribute to it but not by staking preferential claim

Great!!  What a logic..spending 14 years in a school becomes OUR SCHOOL ..so why not after working 30 years in a office that office should become  OUR OFFICE and the kids should stake claim there.

Till last year there was slabbed point for distance and point for first child/girl child so alumni point was not such a headache and it was better competition. Now 70 point has become 0 mark and alumni is riding over it like transfer point did earlier but with limited impact.

Guideline should be as neutral as possible. The alumni parents are now have luck but this must be scrapped next year or other first/girl child point be brought back.

If there are more kids than seats, that problem will exist any which ways. It seems like after transfer points have gone, an unnecessary alumni point bashing has begun. It's a fair guideline and you will see that by third list, most kids would have secured admission.

Not Justified at all. If at all, only some (5 to 10) % of seats can be reserved. Otherwise in most prestigious school as high as 50% of seats are taken up by the Alumni which is ridiculous.

What does you mean by "...and is for everyone in their own personal school" ?  if you mean that the school a person had studied with his/her personal school and is for their kids then what can be told about this kind of biased thinking..  you should have thrown a broader view on it. You also say that society should allow malpractice in nursery admission by keeping many kids away from the competition..why??.  You want that some kids should not be in considered as this increases chances for kids having alumni points.. It is Prajatantr or
Rajtantr? A particular family should go to a particular school and rest are not allowed.... Huh what a skewed view. 


 Everybody knows that chances to get into top schools are very rare still why stop them from competing on a fair point system? Lakhs of students prepare for IAS but a few get selected.. Should it be like allow  extra five marks to those applicants whose father or mother or grandparent were an IAS officer? Would u justify that? Think think think and that too like a great human.


If there is a wrong rule then people have to fight to correct that.. Please don't take my comment personally..it is my opinion about your opinion. I know everyone is tense and that allows for  deviation in thinking.


Sibling point is justified on the ground facts but same does not apply with Alumni points. Can you justify it with some of your reasoning?

100% agreed why the reservation for Alumin. EWS also to be looked into which favour the culprit not filing Income Tax return are rewarded in EWS by giving fake income certificate.

I guess people will never be happy! Today you say abolish alumni points, next will be sibling, then create slabs for distance, etc, etc!! Kindly understand alumni points are only valid for one school which doesn't hamper anything. All guys who are pushing against alumni points forget that they too will get alumni points for the school they studied in! Instead of speculation, lets hope that the government takes cognizance of everyone's grievances and comes out with a system which is beneficial for all. Also remember, despite the best system, there will always be some people who are left out and feel unhappy. Having applied to almost 25 schools and having a 1st girl child, I didn't come into any draw apart from girl child quota in any school and I welcome any system that can at-least ensure I am a part of the race!
