Hindustan Times 6 May -Kids sit at home, but parents may have to pay fees for entire quarter
Classrooms empty but schools are paying teachers, maintaining infrastructure
Their children may not have started school yet but parents of tiny tots are having to worry about their school fee already.
SONU MEHTA/HT FILE PHOTO Schools in Delhi will soon close for the annual summer break in the second week of May. Children will be able to start classes only in July.
The children may start nursery classes in the coming week, or what seems more likely, after the summer vacations, but parents will have to pay the fee for the entire quarter.
And it is not the fault of the schools either. While children usually start school in the first week of April, the long-drawn litigation has meant that classrooms have remained empty so far. The schools, however, have not stopped paying their teachers or eliminated the infrastructure that comes along with running the classrooms.
After Monday’s deferral, the final decision on the nursery admission process is expected on Wednesday. It is only after that that schools will start the second draw of lots to fill up the vacant seats. While a few schools have started classes already, a large number of seats still remain vacant.
The second phase of the admission process is likely to start by the end of this week or early next week. Schools usually close for summer break in the second week of May. The children, therefore, are expected to start school only in July now.
“This is a very peculiar situation where we will have to pay the fee even when our children have not started school. My daughter is still in play school and if the school demands the entire fee, I will have to pay double,” said Amit Yadav, a resident of Rohini.
According to the directorate of education, they have not yet decided on a road map for the fee.
“We are focussing on getting the admission process started as of now. Even when we discuss the issue of fee, we have to recognize that schools are still paying the teachers and are managing the infrastructure. We will have to think about the issue after proper consultation,” said Padmini Singla, director, education.

well said..... dr samar shadab maam..... but if few people are here for school management then what ever you say.... they will not concur you
Dr. Samar, Who cares for credit? comparing things becomes necessary like SC did today citing examples of US court. Question is to maintain law which can't be changed in between and that was the point for winning the battle in favour of IST.
You people are going against the rules framed by the government for the schools. And that too concerning income. Who runs or works on no profit or no loss basis? Are you? Or me? None. You and others are not able to give answers to my only 2 questions.
You all are So much against the pvt. schools. Can you tell me why are you waiting for them? sab kuchh pata hone ke baad bhi un schools me hi apne bachhon ko bhejne ke intzaar me he. Plz tell, otherwise you will have to pay for the fee from April onward for sure. Now no one can change the rule of fee, not even Supreme Court fore this session. let us try if you can win this battle.
look mr maharam you will never understand the thing because you work for school managment which is always after money -greedy bunch of crooks....
and we all parents are after a good side of the school... we are looking after good teachers and there teaching....
ad if you thing your beloved management "buy those teachers" then i am really very sorry for your cheap mentality.
dr samar shadab maam.... mr maharam have a tendency to argue ill and irrelevent things when he has no point... don't mind what he says ..
Since no one is able to give reply to my questions, I have decided not to comment any more on this issue. Even Mr. Mahesh and Dr. Samar could not do so. Thanks for all the members who commented in and against the favour of this issue.
Though you will not win this battle for this session atleast. The issue raised by me was to justify fee refund issues by seeking support from you parents. Once you cannot cut the salary of your employees, how can you expect from others. This was the main issue and none of the members participated in this debate could reply.
Therefore, I will no more comment on this issue.
A big big thanx to you.....
