Over the last few days we had a chance to further evaluate and study my shortlist. We visited schools, spoke to various parents in the morning at the bus drop points, while they were dropping their kids for school and quality feedback from this site from several people. And have finalized our shortlist, thought it would be good to share with all of you as well:
Scottish High (First on my list)
Pros: Very positive and excellent feedback from parents, one parent who shifted their kid from another school are really very happy and pleased with the school. I met the kid too, even he is also very happy after the shift. Even the feedback from higher class parents is also very good. Their teaching methodology and quality of teachers is very good. They don't model kids, rather appreciate diversity. Founders seems to be focused and committed. They have a special needs department, wherein they help kids with special needs to study in mainstream.Teacher student ratio is good. They have day boarding, so from class 1 onwards kids comes back by 4 PM
Cons: Fees relatively on higher side. Infrastructure is good, but doesn't give a wow factor. I mean its not a 5 start type infrastructure.
Admission is on first come first served basis.
Heritage
Old, established and positive feedback from parents. Met parents of KG class students and they are really happy about the school and teachers. Teaching methodology is not based on rote, its conceptual and they lay great emphasis on understanding of basic concepts. Kids coming from rote background may find it very difficult and parents may perceive that its too easy. Very well balanced focus on extracurricular and academics. They also have a special needs department, wherein they have teacher student ration of 1:3. Quality of teachers are good and founders background relates well to education.
Cons: They dont have dress??? Its a bit difficult to digest and agree to their terms of no dress.
Shiv Nadar
Excellent feedback from parents, they are very happy to see the way their kids are developing. Quality of teachers seems to be the best in this school. We met few of them and they really seems to know what they are doing. They have something called as AHA program, wherein for one and a half hours focus is clearly on extra-curricular activities in a structured way. Their teacher student ratio is also good at 2 teachers for 25. Its a full day school with kid coming back home at 4 PM. Founders are committed to education, they already have schools by the name of VidyaGyan running in rural India where they are providing free education. Great charitable effort.
Cons: Though the planned infrastructure is very good, but, entire campus is yet not complete. Only half of the campus is ready. May take another one or two years to complete. Their fees is on a relatively higher side.
Admission is on lottery basis, now this lottery thingquite tricky.
GD Goenka
Pros: GD Goenka is reputed and known in education field. Good feedback from parent whose kids are going there. Infrastructure is quite good. Mixed feedback about teachers, largely its a positive feedback. Fees is not high as compared to above.
Cons: Franchise school and new. Actually its not that major constraint.
Admission is available quite easily.
Suncity (last on my list)
Pros: Established and big. Relatively low fee. Positive parents feedback and have good teachers.
Cons: Too much of homework and competitive environment amongst young kids. Seems to be very rigid admin, bus space is not guaranteed, but normally one gets the bus space.
Now the challenge is at few places admission is on the basis of interaction, first come first serve and at few places its on lottery basis.Keeping our fingers crossed with above shortlist. Please wish us best of luck.
Rajeeb, All the best to all the parents :)
Thanks Sakshi, You are really doing a great job.
Thanks Rajeeb :)
HI Rajeeb,
Can u share the details of Fee structure of Scottish High and Shiv Nadar.
Sakshi,
Can you provide feedback on Mother's Pride/Presidium for Prenursery.
I got to know that DAV and Salwan has their Prenursery branch in Sec 10 A and Sec 4 respectively. I am residing in Sec 30, so I am looking for a nearby School.
Go for DAV>SALWAN>Presidium
Scotish High:
Initial : 1.3 Lac
Quarterly: around 38K
Shiv Nadar
Initial: 1.15 Lac
Quarterly: around 37K
