As for the school's ranking, it has nothing to do with their admission process. If that was the scenario, SH would have been at the bottom! As Gurgaon parents, I am thankful that I have so many good schools to choose from...so, we should move ahead and think about our children rather than getting bogged down by setbacks such as these. After all, schools play a role but we as parents play the biggest role in the overall development of our babies and I am sure all of us do the best we can. So, keep it up fellow parents :-)

Very well said,

LVIS is one of the most prestigious and sought after school. Its so kind of the management to consider that kids have to travel from long distance. Very thoughtful decision. It is good that they have considered other factors to screen kids apart from neighbourhood, it is important that kids grow up in similar type of company and parents with similar mental thinking and status. It is a very good move and LVIS management should be appreciated  for this approach. This hoopla is all because people are jealous that they are not able to make to LVIS league. Instead of shouting and blaming LVIS, parents should think and introspect, why  they didn't clear the screening.

Don't you think it would have been much fair had they informed this neighborhood criteria before selling forms ? !!

LVIS is the most fair, honest and transparent school in entire Gurgaon. Most of the schools don't even tell the screening criteria, at least they told you what is the main criteria they used for screening other than criteria used to ensure similar quality and status of parents.

I disagree. They never mentioned that distance is a criteria. Not at the time when we called them before the forms were out, not at the time of the submission and even today they are giving conflicting statements. They could have very well told us at the time of submission, if not earlier, that they will consider the distance from school first. But then, if they did, how would they have earned so much from hapless parents like us!

how they can think and introspect abt it Nidhi, when they dont know what is screening criteria!!!!!

Rajesh,

the hoopla is not because they havent shortlisted some parents or their kids but because there was no transparency. they started with 'First come first serve' as their first criteria to shortlist kids so that everybody reaches on the very first day to buy the forms and submit them as well. Then their admin team has been informing everybody that distance is the criteria for selection which again turned out to be untrue.  Again the reiteration, people are not unhappy with not getting through but the way the process has been conducted. Nobody has a problem with Suncity's or Sriram's appraoch because they know the criteria very well and its very well advertised and communicated to people.

Hoopla is all because people wanted to be associated with such prestigious school. Now they are frustrated.

LVIS very honest, what if they don't event tell what criteria they used? Then what will you do? Again cry?

Haha, no one would cry - but rather the school would have wept - the reason being that they would have lost thousands on just the form alone ...

Nidhi,

nobody is here to crib and cry but to share opinions. If you are happy with LVIS approach then i wish you luck. Nobody here is jealous and honestly LVIS has nothing special to offer to anybody that people would be jealous about. Almost every modern school has similar infra and similar teachers.

Also, out of the 44 kids that they have selected, I am sure only 25 would really go for it and they will definitely come out with a second list.

So here is my take on it...the distance criteria seems to be only for pre nursery. For nursery I think they have focused more on parents profile and since the applications for nursery were surely higher very few people could make it. This is my sense and I may be wrong here. I also feel that shortlisting on the basis of parents profile is not wrong but not making the criterion known to parents was something not acceptable. In the end...I m probably going to be a LVIS parent as my kid has got thru pre nursery.
Totally agree with you here Sheetal..but may be next time they'll be more clear hopefully after all this confusion
