Hi Sakshi & Parents
I am little confused between the Conventional and Progressive Schools. Got through DPS SL , DAV 14 , GD Goenka , SNS (WL) whereas Amiown & Shikshanter are in process. Pls help in rating the above basis overall developement of a child i.e. academics as well as sports & other activities. Fees and distance are not a criteria as all are with in the budget and more or less the same distance. Though, Suncity and DPS 45 were first choice but missed out on both of them.
Thanks
Saurabh,First decide the school with whose ideology you can sync, Rest i will request all the parents to give inputs.
Sakshi, i am completely sold with methodology and teaching pattern of SNS but it is a very new school on the other hand DAV14 has an impeccable track record and is one of the best conventional schools in Gurgaon. But then u cant have best of both the worlds :-).
Anybody going for DAV 14 Kindly share your experience & thoughts pls.
thanks
Hi Saurabh,
I am agree very much to what Sakshi has replied to you.Very first thing every parent should consider is what they are looking for in a school i.e whether they want very conventional schools which normally focus more on academics or other schools who has majority of focus on other activities.
If you have observed carefully in recent years there are lots of schools which have come up & for that to happen money if surely one of the reason. I am sure you would also agree that education has become more of a business nowadays due to which lot of emphasis is given by schools by during the time of admission. There are few schools who are using new learning techniques but, to be frank nobody is sure how it will work in Indian scenario so sometimes it may be risky going for those schools too.
In my view, I will surely like to go for conventional schools which are more realistic to life & its challenges.As you to agree that conventional schools are definitely a good option but now if you see even majority of parents are inclined to other schools and that may be because of the kind of outlook we get from these schools. You would agree that we may categorise schools in following categories i.e.
Category 1 - DAV, Salwan
Category 2 - DPS, Heritage
Category 3 - Pathways, GDG, LVIS, SH
Category 4 - Shikshantar, Kunskapollam
So, it all depends on a parent what he wants his kid to be & accordingly decide.
Hope you may find above helpful. However you may follow other suggestions too.
@ V R
I agree with u that its a parent who has to choose among schools of different methodologies. But Its really confusing to do this. I feel whatever we say at core of our heart we would like to have school that gives importance to academics.
One thing I want to ask u VR that how u have kept DPS and heritage in one category.
@Seema,
Yes, you are correct that at the end of the day, academics is the sole criteria to finalize the school which again vary form school to school.
Regarding DPS & Heritage in same category I agree that both are not of same level but more or less its similar as to what i have heard from some of the parents whose kids are studying there. By similar, I mean the way they focus on study. However for further feedback you may also check with any of the parents whose kids are studying there.
Please note that the categories, I have referred are just segregation for type of schools & not priority list.
Thanks Harihar!
Have u any information on how heritage kids do in 10 & 12 exams
@Seema,
No idea at all since the kids about whom i was talking studying in Heritage are in lower classes.
Thanks Harihar , I totally agree with you but the decision making at the last moment is a tough part. The learning out of this is that a parent should only opt for one set of schools in the very beginning to avoid confusion at later stage.
Now, one set has a proven track record and the other brings a better look and feel to the picture topped up with new teaching methodology.
It will be tough 2-3 days i guess :-)
@Saurabh,
You are absolutely right in saying so, as for everyone its a tough call.
But you know dear as a safer option for myself, I would prefer to go for "Tried & Tested" schools which are off course the conventional one who are having vast experience of teaching & by the time they have learnt so many things about education, students psychi etc. rather than new schools where I may risk my kid since for any schools to get a proper setup & feel being established also takes lot of time & during that time its a testing phase for them too including teachers, management etc.
