lom Hills, The Millennium) but others where the age criteria is strictly 3.5+ as of March 2014 where she falls short of 3 months and they have refused the forms for nursery(Lotus Valley, DPS, Shiv Nadar and Sun City)
My question is if we get her admitted now to Nursery, will there be a problem to appear in class X board exams (which is what the staff of shiv nadar and DPS told us)
Really confused, as we would not want her to repeat a class when she would be aware of it. Doing it now, seems to be a more gentle choice, so to say.
Any feedback would be most welcome and of immense help.
Also, the admission in G D Goenka is confirmed, should we go ahead with the admissions? There does not seem to be much feedback on The Millennium School?
Many thanks,
Shweta…

ctively. I also do not understand the hype around Shiv Nadar as their academic records are very average. 1st decision to take is do you want IB or CBSE/ICSE.
If it's IB you want, I only see Pathways and Scottish as top options. Pathways' locations are bad (near Sohna and Gurgaon-Faridabad road) and sending a 3 year old there is tough. So only option is Scottish High. I did look at Scottish's ICSE results for 10th and 12th and found them pretty average. Only 48% (31/65) > 90% in 12th and 61% in 10th. I also enquired with parents who's kids study there and found the extracurricular infra which is super hyped is not really used as well. Being a Day boarding though is good for busy parents as kid spends pretty much all day at the school. So we got admission offer within 2 days of applying to Scottish, but declined.
So we looked at ICSE, and there are only 2 other real good options - Shriram and Shikshantar.
Our Shikshantar experience was a disaster. Their 2 hour orientation session went on for 4 hours and the draw of lots meant to finish in 1.5 hrs was a mess with Parents shouting their kids names, software glitches eventually ending in the Principal literally scolding parents followed by a Yoga session to calm every one down. I am not joking, it was absolutely hilarious and showed the unpreparedness for use of technology. Speaking to parents we also found no swimming pool, no foreign language and poor infra overall. Great teachers, very committed and focused on helping the child be happy is what we heard. So to take a call we looked at their academic results. ICSE 10th and 12th was pretty ok, better than Scottish high, but nowhere close to Shriram.
Since Shriram announces results on 12 Sept, we moved on to look at CBSE schools (no preference for ICSE, just the way we thought about it).
CBSE choices are many. The top options we heard of everywhere were : Heritage, Shriram, Suncity. We also heard about Shiv Nadar, but on seeing their 10th and 12th results 44% students (>90%) in 10th and 46% students (>90%) in 12th, we dropped it right away.
The other set of options were DPS-45, Lotus Valley. We also added MRIS basis discussions here. And on looking at academic results we found Amity and DAV Sector 14 good too.
But Amity, DAV, Salwan are too traditional for our taste. DPS-45 results are in September so that decision has to be taken late. So we applied to all others (except the traditional schools).
We got admission offers from SunCity, Lotus Valley & Heritage already and expect to get it in DPS etc coz they are nearby.
One thing I can tell is distance is not that big a factor. SunCity is 14km from our home. They seem to look at Parent Profile and the answers you write in essays. We did a school visit to SunCity and found the campus good. Their academic results are not so great though 45% (>90%) in both 10th and 12th. And of course the distance was far too.
So Lotus Valley. Great Academic results : 71% students (>90%) in 12th and 62% (>90%) in 10th. Good campus, spoke to the principal, liked them. Everything looks good.
Heritage though appears in a different league. To understand why, read their book "Surival of the Humanest" and their vision of the skill kids need in 2035 when they graduate. Loved it and also their Project based Experiential learning theme. This seems a good crossover of IB kind of experiential learning (also advocated by the new Education policy) and the academic rigor of CBSE. But hold on, our only doubt was , does all this experiential stuff bring the same academic results as traditional schools. And this is what I found 12th results - 74% students (>90%) and 100% (>75%). These are the best results across all schools. So the choice was very clear.
We've gone ahead with Heritage and recommend anyone getting into Heritage or Shriram to just take it. Shriram results are best in ICSE 68% (>90%+) in 12th and 77% (>90%) in 10th.
This shows the quality of students who come to these schools and hence if your kid is in Top 5, he/she is in Top students nationally as well and not just a local champ.
For rest, I would recommend Lotus Valley for its good academic results and great infra.
SunCity is good too overall if you don't opt for traditional schools.
But if traditional schools are ok with you then DPS-45 and Amity look great and are much more affordable than Top 3 schools.
My own research shows Scottish, ShivNadar are great on infra but not on academic results, which is eventually important. They invest a lot in marketing so do your research before opting.

ll possible research on various kind of schools. I have few questions please help to respond.
My priority is definitely academics and then extra curricular activities. So following are my questions:
1) How are admissions in gurgaon schools made is it point system or lottery or interview of parents+kids? I tried to check individual school website but since admissions are closed so system does'nt show details anywhere for admission procedure. So please help to share some light.
2) Can you rate the following list of schools if possible considering academics as main preference followed by extra curricular activities and yes board is CBSE:
DPS sector-45
Amity sector-46
Salwan Public School, sectro- 1
DAv sector-14
The Shri Ram School - Aravali
St. Xavier's High School
Ryan International School,Sector 40 Gurgaon,
Scottish High International School
Shalom Hills International School
Suncity World School
manav rachna international(sector-46 and 51)
Shiv Nadar School
lotus valley
3) Do i need to prepare my kid for any interview process because he is very introvert and wont open his mouth at all if it comes to strangers.
This would be of great help if you could give me a neutral opinion as from fellow parents i am getting confused as everyone has a point of view which keeps on clashing and i am unable to decide.
Looking forward for your response

igh of relief with the High Court having fixed the minimum age (between 3-4 years) for admission to Nursery, parents in NCR are confused with no similar regulation in their states. While some schools in Noida, Ghaziabad, Faridabad and Gurgaon are allowing kids between 3-4 years, others are seeking kids between 3.5-4.5 years, while the rest are asking for kids between 3.6-4.6 years of age. So kids eligible for some schools become ineligible for others. Cases in point in Noida are DPS and Somerville which have fixed the age criteria at 3 years 6 months, while APJ and Amity schools in the same city have set it at 3 years. In Gurgaon, DPS Sector 45, Sun City and Scottish High are allowing kids at minimum 3.5 years while Heritage, Ardee, Ridge Valley and Lotus Valley have kept it flexible.Sumit Vohra of admissionsnursery.com, a website helping parents getting their wards admitted in nursery, says, “In Delhi, the DoE has fixed the age criteria. So everyone knows that their kids have to be between 3 to 4 years to get into nursery. However, in the absence of any set guidelines in NCR, schools are setting their own age eligibilities leading to unnecessary confusion. It is especially a problem for first-time parents as they are not familiar with the admission process.”“Most schools are asking for minimum 3.5 and 3.6 years so that the students they get, are mature enough, don’t suffer from anxiety and are more disciplined; but many new schools located in far flung areas are accepting kids at 3 years also to be able to fill up their seats. A reputed educational trust has set different age criteria at its branches in Delhi, Noida, Gurgaon and Expressway which is wrong.”Nupur Khandelwal, a parent and resident of Indirapuram in Ghaziabad, says, “I wanted to get my son admitted in St. Thomas school which is closest to my house; but they were asking for students of 3.5 years and my son was falling short by a few days. So we opted for DPS which is further and costlier.”Preeti Dhaliwal, another such parent and resident of Sushant Lok says, “I wanted my daughter admitted in DPS last year, but she was falling short by a month. Ultimately, I had to keep her in playschool for an extra year, something I didn’t want to do at all, and looking forward to getting her admitted in DPS now. I hope there are no hassles now.”…
ally they opened admissions to nursery giving only a 2-3 hours window for only 2 consecutive days for submitting registration forms. We rushed through the process as the form was quite lengthy and several questions were asked. Also they seem to have highest charges just for registration form compared to other schools (Rs 2500 compared to other schools who have it arnd Rs 500 to 700 or max 1000 only). Now coming to the aftermath, we were told that distance from school and age is the criteria for selection and you will get a call in 2-3 weeks. When we asked for a school tour we were rudely told that its not possible. The lady at reception didn't even bother to look at us.We waited but didn't get any call so we contacted them again after 2 weeks and they rudely replied wait till this Friday if no call then your child is not selected. It happened as they said and when we called they told us 'not selected'. Then we thought of asking them on what basis they rejected because we live only 1.5 kms from the school and they told only 60 seats were there and all got filled from Niravna county which is next to school and further suggested to meet the principal. When we met her we felt like being treated as negligible entity to her.She simply was busy signing some student cards and told us literally that not everyone gets a chance to sit in front of me like this, so please hurry up.She reciprocated the same thing that we finalized based on distance... we said that we live only 1.5 kms away and she responded to me neighborhood is the school wall and we cannot do anything. Then she suddenly said ...admissions are not yet closed we are slowly expanding the radius and it may last for a month or so also but no date can be given, you may wait.We were surprised because we were told that your child is not selected and there was no hope further. We realized that they are now changing statements to cover any unfilled seats. We also explained them that in Gurgaon all schools have different dates and we finalized another school as a backup so if you don't give us a date or assurity its a big risk we may miss both schools, so please give us some date. The principal simply nodded and told us to fight with Haryana Govt. since there is no guideline enforced. We then decided to ask for a refund of our registration charges and decided not to go with Lotus Valley having such a "high headed" management playing with parents emotions these days.Because if they are behaving like this initially god knows how will they behave later on.This school definitely needs transparency in admission process, and have some respect for parents otherwise the hype that they have created can be lost.…

d-incomplete or manipulated n shikshanter opened admission twice within one month 2 years back ...even this year there late admission link for 2016 2017 is there on website as of today. For example maruti kunj n many more wont come in top 25 also as per parents feedback We dont endorse surveys Only genuine feedback is parents feedback Dr Shayama chona head of lotus valley is part of education world who does max surveys. Why surveys come at the time of admission only Please see last year query regarding the same http://www.admissionsnursery.com/forum/topics/nursery-admissions-gu....
Food for thought..Surveys rate teching standard s of schools Do those representative of survey team sit in class of every subject techer when they rate reaching standard and do assessment as only delhi ncr have private school 5000 schools n they do it for pan india level Only surveys which show cbse results figure or any data validated by any board is correct…
September.
Gurgaon-based Vijaylakshmi has been calling schools everyday. "I've also been coaching my son," she says. She is interested in having her son admitted into one of three schools and is referring to admissionsnursery.com - started by another beleaguered parent - for help.
She is interested in DPS Sushant Lok, which had sold forms at an admissions fair but isn't anymore. "They say they'll start selling after August 21." Parents who collected DPS Sushant Lok forms were told that appointment details for their round of interactions will be intimated in the first week of September. Registration is open at other schools, too, including Lotus Valley International School (Gurgaon), Shiv Nadar Schools (Gurgaon, Noida) and GD Goenka Public School (Indirapuram).
Ardee School started selling forms on August 16 and the last date for submission is September 15. "DPS Vasundhara opened last week and admissions there will remain open for another two weeks. We are not covered by the Directorate of Education guidelines. We're lucky that way," says Rita Kapur, executive director, DPS Ghaziabad Society.
Another Gurgaon parents have already managed to get her son placed in Ryan International. "I bought the form at the fair and they gave me a date and time for the interaction there itself. My child got selected," she says sounding relieved.
Most of Sarbani Ojha's "target schools" - Scottish High School, Heritage and Sun City School - will open only next week. "I also want Shri Ram School but for that I'll have to wait till January. I feel uneasy about waiting," she says.
"In Delhi, the bigger, better established schools will wait till the guidelines from the Directorate of Education are declared. Most open after November," says Sumit Vohra who has started AdmissionsNursery.com.
