What Makes up a Good School?

My son got selection in only two schools, and we are fortunate that both schools are good. His sister already goes to one of these, and that one is our first priority obviously - she has just completed KG. And we've been super happy with this school - its a Christian school - every teacher/didi/staff member knows each child and family personally. Its five minutes from our home. I regularly participate and interact actively in every way. And my son already is crazy about his didi's school, and both kids are best friends and are looking forward to going in the Bus together next week onwards.

But then again, what do children know - they are only 3 and 4 yrs of age. We, the Mighty parents are the ones who make the decisons, right?!

Now This OTHER school that he has been selected at, is far from our home- travelling time 40 minutes atleast in a bus in Delhi heat.  And the timing is 7 to 3pm. They say its for the child's own betterment, there is minimal parental interaction, school is self-sufficient, no homework, no tiffin, no bag, no uniform, no formal teaching. The child learns to take an afternoon nap in school, eats what the school mess provides. And after 14 years in school, out comes a young man who stands apart, with deep roots in Indian culture - among other things, he can properly speak 'Hindi' not 'Hinglish', as most of us do! And they have reason to be so overconfident - this is one of the top schools of India, with a century of history to speak of. Its also a Minority school - Gujju. And for some vague reason, totally incomprehensible to myself, I can't stop thinking about it.

So what do I do? Should I separate the children? Should I give up on what I believe has been perfect for us till now, for the sake of 'Brand Name'?

The two schools, are, respectively, Santa Maria Integrated Learning Environment and Sardar Patel Vidyalaya.

Hoping for some honest advice..

I dont think going just for the name makes any sense at the cost of keeping such a small child on road for almost two hrs and when you have an option of other great nearby school too . Sisters are big support for their younger ones . Telling by experience

CAn the moderator or any parents share something about Elizabeth Gauba school?
