There are some extra ordinary child too. They have attitude to change the world. For those, the delay of one year can bring the obstacle in their growth. So I feel 3+ is right time for them to be in school. The standard wont give any restriction to parent to look for the future of child. They have to give an open system and now its parents decision that their child should get admission in 3+ or 4+.

For checking the ability of child and understanding that the child is good of 3+ or 4+ parents should take advice of counseler. This type of system is workable and followed in many countries.
3 yrs is too tender an age. 4+ is the perfect age to start nursery.
My daughter will be four next mth and is going to nursery class in a 'reputed' school.
*She is waking up at 6.30am to catch her bus at 7am only to come back at 1.20pm (this started when she was 3yrs 3mths old she is December born)
*She is been doing writing A-Z, Hindi, maths 1-10 (writing)
*Activities Clay modelling, Fancy dress with 3 min dance performance, English rhyme recitation with min 5 lines, Show and tell where they are given any topic and has to say min 5 lines in english on the topic....
*all the activities are judged
* She is supposed to talk only in english in the school.

Yes my daughter and all her class mates are smart kids who reached their growth milestones well before time.
Yes they 'manage' to talk in english and have vocab additions
Yes they are confused with 'C as in camel and u unth in hindi
Yes they don't know y garden is called 'upwan' when we don't call our gardens and park upvan. (am surprised y hindi has not evolved in all these years)
Yes i and all other her friend's parents end up 'helping' their tired kids with HW, activities (helping i mean most of the time doing the complete job when our kids are sleeping at night)

Yes the school has very good reputation and manage to grab most of the awards in interschools

Yes our kids compete with 1 yr older kids and yes they are demoralized.

I don't think i can be more honest.
hi! roohi i wud like to know the school name as iam also lookin for a gud school for my child
-which ever skool u chooce, make sure u have a look of the syllabus. Don't fall for activity stuff, it's fake (imagine 3 yr old making masks from waste or cutting tags and pasting in a diagram, needless to say it's done by poor parents in the middle of the night since they have their own work pressures) and no teachers don't teach any of these.
- The skool timings, very imp, since kids who come at 1.30pm, most likely sleep till 6.30, 7pm so the rest of the day is as such over
- There should be no writing in nursery, poor kids end up writing the entire sheet of alphabets and have to color/paste the activity page, their fingers and hands start aching.
Thanks Roohi,
very nice & important points one must keep in mind.
ur points r very much correct but dear i think syllabus is same in all schools jst bit of difference u can find .................activity is definitelyt more in international schools rather than DPS and bal bharti like schools..........writing is there in nursery now no rhyming is there in nursery wht i heard thtis y playgrp is pressurizing on rhymes.........
thanks Monika, Sonia, Brijji...
I am telling you what my very active daughter and her friends (who are going to a formal school) are going through. Don't fall for the image or what people say about a school. Just do the survey yourself and look into the books of the nursery class and imagine ur child doing all the stuff. Make sure the school hold workshops for phonics and linguistics and don't introduce 2nd language in the nursery itself. It's confusing for kids. There should be very less writing in nursery.
No the syllabus is not the same.
@ Roohi ,Feedback from experianced and honest parents like you is veryuseful for parent community
It should be 4+
4+ as on sept 2011 is the best age. 3+ is very tender age. Let them enjoy their childhood.
FYI 4+ is also childhood....then why not child enjoy his/her childhood till he/she is 10+ and then think about schooling?
