Parents who have chosen BGS International as final choice?

Hi All,

I am trying to connect with parents who have finalized to send their wards to BGS International School, Dwarka. It will be great if you come forward to share your part of the story (based on the three key points given below). However, in case you have any negative vibes please done hesitate to share them as well. Together over comments will help other parents to make their decision.

What made you choose BGS over other schools and why?
Have you got your admissions done or are is it still pending.
Your area of residence (Just provide the Dwarka sector or locality; No further information needs to be shared over and above that)?

For my part of the story, I have shortlisted BGS International School because

1) I figured out that this school emphasize more on academics and providing quality education. My priority was more on academics and non-fancy schools. I came to this conclusion after going through information on schools website + Comments on Nursery Admission web portal + Visiting school personally.

2) I have visited school many times after my wards name got shortlisted. Was never allowed to enter the school premise but most of my comments are based on factors I came across outside the school premise. During one such visit I was trying to coordinate with parents of existing students and the only thing I heard from their mouth was good about the school and its principle. Most of these parents recommended me to get my ward admitted blindfolded and a decision I am not going to regret for rest of my life. Same kind of comment came from someone who resides in my society and his ward is going to school from last 6 years.

3) I put up in Sec 23, Dwarka and it was tough decision to finalize BGS (considering security for a girl child). Firstly this school is located 5 KM away and my ward has already her name shortlisted in 3 nearby schools (Basava + Indian Heights + DIS) which fall within 200 meters. However looking at the feedback from other parents; I neglected the distance factor and got it removed from school shortlisting criteria.

4) As per my analysis, average class result of BGS for 12 Class is 85%, which is close to Mount Carmel having an average result of 87% for the same class. This puts BGS close to one of the best schools in Dwarka known form academic achievements. This really matters a lot to those parents who emphasize more on academics as main point of shortlisting criteria.

Information for Management Seat seekers:

BGS is open form management seat seekers.There approach is not like other money minters schools.
BGS is asking parents to drop a application at school gate if they are interested in Management Seats.
Management Seat charges are 50,000/- additionally you can also claim this amount as a part of your annual Income Tax Rebate as well (based on your eligibility).

@well wisher. Uniform you have to buy either from school tuck shop or from outside also. But house dress is only available in school. Book from school. But if note book is finished we can buy from outside no compulsion to buy from school.

i am also trying to get a management seat in BGS, i have dropped letter there and sent mails, visited school 7 to 8 times, out of which 1 time i was able to meet the principle.

But still i am not able to secure a seat in BGS for my child .

can you help me in getting my son admission in BGS Details as follows

@Kapil: We are not any mediatory or promotors for the school. We are just like you and sailing in the same boat. I am just doing my part of the job of helping other parents get there ward admitted to the good school.

So in order to understand your query further can you please me know in more detail about below-listed points. Your response will give us an idea if BGS is the kind of school for you or not. Similar kind of analysis must have been done by schools principal while you two interacted.

1) Kind of discussion you had with the principle of the school.

2) What kind of expectations are in your mind for the school of choice?

3) Are u looking for schools with the focus on Sports / Extra Curricular or the one with Academic focus?

I had just a casual discussion she was inspecting some work on the school gate.

she told to wait and visit after 22 as still admission for the first cut off were going and after that only they will have a clear picture, and she enquired what do you do, where do you live why BGS .

My expectations are for good school, ground for overall development, not much money mined, which have some values

i am looking for the focus on Academic and Extra Curricular.

@Kapil: Oh! I got it now.

Since you are looking for an overall development school & you want the school to focus both on Academic as well as Extra-Curricular activities, in such scenarios BGS is not the kind of school you should be looking for. If you want overall development, I will recommend if you to try at Nirmal Bharti / SVIS / GD Goenka. My recommendation is based on feedback from many parents who I know personally and their wards are in these schools for last 7 to 8 years.

Coming to your point:

See, BGS emphasize mainly on the Academics. That doesn't mean they do not focus on Extra Curricular activities, they do but not like Nirmal Bharti / SVIS / GD Goenka.

During my interaction with principle what I was able to understand that she is looking for the parents who emphasize more on academic growth with a little bit of Extra Curricular activities. Maybe this could be the reason she asked you to wait till 22 (this is just my assumption not sure what was going on in her mind).

If you go thorugh all the replies on this post, one of the parents got there child admitted through management quota. You can interact with him and get to know how he succeded in securing his seat. As far as I assume they were looking for a school with more emphasis on academics.

BGS Second draw of lots will be held tomorrow(27/02/2018) at 9:00 am for 70 points as per school website, if anyone looking for it there is another chance tomorrow. If some one attending the session tomorrow, please share the result of draw here.. I guess they may upload on school website tomorrow itself as done incase of first draw of lots

Thanks Sandeep, no other option ...even school reception keeps on saying check next week from last several weeks and additionally they say they have got many references and limited management seats...

Now school is saying that all the management seats are full
