Nursery Admissions in Delhi NCR 2026-27

With no definite dates announcement for the Nursery admissions guidelines so far, the parents across the city are anxiously and eagerly awaiting the final dates. However, they have already started contemplating how to manage their work, run their households as well as apply to all the schools they want.

Parents who have children ready for nursery admissions are very well aware that the coming two months will decide if they will get them through to some of the most prestigious schools in the city. “These days it is easier to get into the IIT’s or IIM’s than getting admission in the best schools. Every school has its own procedures of admission, and we are busy trying to understand how they work. The sooner we find out the dates the better, so we can plan how to manage the application process.” remarks Amit Mehta, a businessman and a concerned parent.

The major problem for the parents is the fact that no definite dates have been announced as of yet and that means they cannot plan their schedules. Up until 2010 the time period given by the Government used to be 30 days, during which the parents could fill the forms available at schools. But since last year the time period has been shortened to 15 days for the availability of forms and parents are struggling to manage their work alongside completing the official processes. “I am an engineer and my wife works at a bank, we have to plan our office leaves accordingly and we still do not know when the process will begin. Fifteen days is too short a period and we want to apply at a dozen schools at least, while managing the household. It is going to be tough.” laments Sushant Kumar, a resident of Mayur Vihar.

The Government is expected to announce its guidelines by mid December, and the forms at schools should be made available by the first week of January. But the problems remain numerous for the parents. The parents remain worried as to how they will cope with the different demands of schools, in the short period of time.

“Each school has a different set of criteria’s, some schools make the forms available for only two-three days while others have strict office timings. Schools have their own demands ranging from family photos and birth certificates to passports and Voter ID cards. On top of it the 15 day period has two Sundays as well, it becomes extremely difficult for the parents to apply at all the schools they want. And at an average a parent wants to apply to at least 20 schools.” explains Sumit Vohra, founder of admissionsnursery.com

DOE should look into this matter regarding limited days and time followed by few schools seriously.

option of online registration should be made compulsory, and submission of documents should be expected by schools only after a child is shortlisted.

Yes surina i second you. schools like DPS,Shriram,Vasant Valley and many others do that but not all.

The period must be raised to 30 days

Trilok,Yes it was 30 days 2 years back i don't know why have they reduced the window to 15 days.
