NEW DELHI: Nursery admissions may be about a month away but parents are already getting their paperwork in order. Lack of clarity on the selection process is adding to their anxiety. With 'distance' carrying the maximum points in the current points system, parents are readying a set of documents to serve as address proof.
"Parents living in rented accommodations face a lot of problems as they think bank statements, gas connections and mobile bills are valid address proof," observes Sumit Vohra, founder, admissionsnursery.com, "Many schools don't even accept lease deeds and some accept only passport or voter IDs as proof. Documents required are also school-specific like the points system. Having a fixed set of documents will help parents be prepared."
Even birth certificates can cause some stress because certain schools ask for them to be submitted, not while taking admission, but at the time of application. "I am wondering how many copies are required. I have just two," says Deepti Singh. Parents often don't have names of children on the birth certificates, which is a must for some schools but some schools require names to be printed on the certificates. "It takes the corporation at least three weeks to issue a new certificate. On several occasions, by the time parents have the learn they need the certificates readied, they have already run out of timeand get them, time is already up," says Vohra. "If a parent is applying to 10 or more schools, he needs to keep four-five original certificates ready. Parents can get a certificate with the child's name printed by submitting the older one."
Singh is seeking admission for her daughter, a first child. Interestingly, as proof of both, she'll need to submit affidavits. "Parents should get these ready in advance and should have at least 10 copies made," says Vohra, "The cost of getting them made increases enormously once the application process begins."

Parents,
As regards 1st born document, only affidavit may not serve purpose this year. You need to obtain the record from the hospital/nursing home. Please get it arranged before the process starts.

Hi, is the birth certificate issued by government hospital is valid birth proof??my child was born in meerut.nw we have shifted to a rented house in delhi.we dont have voter id to this address but we do have aadhar card...is it sufficient???plz suggest...

Vandana, it is not valid else it should be municipality. Even BC from govt. hospital will not be valid.

How can we get copies of birth certificate from meerut? My son was born in Meerut. Regarding address proof open an account in nationalized bank like SBI we can introduce u if needed

Hello everyone,,,,,,,,,,,,,I was in d same situation last year as u all parents r?I waz looking for admission of my daughter which ultimately waz able to make in five schools out of the 15 schools v hve filled for her n now its been a year as she is going to THE indian School n i must say this website of Mr. vohra has been a great support n informative centre for me n many more parents...n i wish all the parents BEST OF LUCK as the process of nursery admission is jst about to start i think date will b 1st jan 2014 n have postive attitude n trust me no child is left at home without going to school......one important thing get atleast 20 copies of d birth certificate attested by gazatted officer.......
