Hi,
This forum is a great effort by the moderator and the individual parents sharing their experiences and opinions. I have a question in my mind for some time now and I am not able to find the answer. Hence, I put it open for all of you to share your suggestions.
My kid is Jan 2017 born and is currently enrolled in a Pre nursery school. Now, most of the schools in Noida have already started the admission procedure for 2020 session and some have even already closed it by now. On 31st March 2020, my kid will be 3 yrs and 2 months only, and I dont think this is an appropriate age of starting the formal school. If i wait till 31st March 2021, then my kid will be 4 yrs and 2 months and most of the schools in their on line application forms dont even have an option where a kid of more than 4 yrs can even apply.
Moreover, one of my known teacher in a school in Ghaziabad told me that the schools where the no. of applicants are much higher than the no. of seats available prefer to call the kids who would be more than 3 yrs and 6 months at the time of starting the session.
So, I would like to know all the members:
1. What is your view on the right age of starting the formal school for a child?
2. Which are the sought after schools which accept child with more than 4 yrs of age? (FASN is one)
3. Are there kids who will be less than 3 yrs 6 months in April 2020, and got admission in Noida schools (like Somerville, DPSN, Amity)
Thanks for reading the large post, your ansers will help me and other people like me in taking the right decision.

Very good and valid point! My DD will be 3 years 9 months when she will start her formal school next year and already I get so many questions that why I have delayed when she could have started her formal school 2019-20 itself. Anyhow, Keep calm and Carry on was my strategy as I firmly believed that she would have been too young if she was admissible even in 1-2 odd schools.
Now coming to your point, formal schools have strict age criteria wherein online applications are disabled if your ward is not falling in that specific age group. So you may have trade-off if your ward will cross that age group and your school choices may get narrower.
FYIP, As far as I understood (barring DPSN, Amity, FASN) I have come to know that most schools will continue admission process until December at least as there is a lot of movements as parents tend to reserve seats for more than one school and then decide to go for their prefered school leaving vacant seats in other school and so on. So if you are looking for admission for next session then your chances are still there. You may need o do follow up with schools directly.
Also, when we filled school admission applications this year, recall few schools (Apeejay for example) had vacant seats even for the ongoing session (2019-20) and forms were available. So it is not completely a lost battle for you yet :)
Best of luck!
We are going through the same dilemma, our child is Feb 2017 born. Traditional schools have strict age criteria, apart from FASN other schools have lowered their min intake age i.e 3+. When our daughter appeared for DPSN interaction 2.5 months back she was only 2.4 yrs old, though she is a bright child but expecting her to solve a 4 piece puzzle and putting beads in the thread is too much. She didn't get selected in DPSN and my two friends' kids who are Dec and Jan born didn't get it either. International schools / new age schools do take 4+ in nursery but we prefer traditional schools.
Amity and Apeejay nursery admissions are still open, you may want to try there.
Good Luck
yes it is Sweta. I filled the form online yesterday and got a date for form submission.
I am not sure about Somerville or DPSN as I didn't get an interaction call from either. My son would be 3 years 3 months by the time he would start Nursery next year and he is selected in Amity.
