Hello Parents and Sakshi

Thanks

Shweta
It's a mediocre schools rest parents who can confirm rest of details.

The interaction is scheduled for 20-Feb

Dear Sakshi

I want to know the feedback of New Era School, Mayapuri. What I have heard, they are taking admission in first class only and nursery is thru NE Saplings.

After interaction at NE Saplings, Rajouri Garden, they told me to submit fees within 5 days.

Tell me, transition to main New Era is smooth or not in First Class.

I am very much confused.

Jitesh

See you will get all your answers below at the link

Better to double chk with New Era Mayapuri parents regarding inside details of Transition as many parents complaint regarding different schools ..i cannot vouch for it

Ask for fee refund policy also from school

http://www.admissionsnursery.com/main/search/search?q=+New+Era+Scho....

Though they deny it, but the transition to class I will happen automatically. However, it may be done in New Era Maya puri or New Era Junior School Rajouri Garden depending on the area where you stay.

Dear Moderator and Parents,

Since the message load is very less today, I thought of spamming and asking a question which I have been wondering about for a long time.

I have read many times in various comments that school like DPS,RKP do not provide "holistic" development and focus only on academics. I fail to understand this statement - What is it that other schools are enriching their students with and eminent schools DPS are not able to? What exactly does holistic development mean which dipsites are supposedly weak in? I am specifically perturbed as I am myself a dipsite and I didn't know I am under-developed :)
Kindly enlighten ..... Thanks.

Hi Rohit ,

You have posted a question that deserves a lot of replies and comments from everyone especially those who have said that DPS RKP does not provide "holistic development." As far as I am concerned I can only say that probably because the academic record of DPS has been so brilliant/extraordinary over the years ......the same probably overshadows the extracurricular / sports / miscelleneous education that the school provides.

The second reason could be that probably DPS RKP has failed to an extent to match the non academic credentials/record/environment/facilities of new age schools like Shri Ram and Vasant Valley over the last few years. The latter two schools are probably now the benchmarks for " holistic development" not just in Delhi but in the entire country.

The third reason could be that DPS Branches are increasing/expanding at such a fast pace over the entire country that some of the reputed/brilliant staff from the established branches are invariably transferred to the new school thus denting the former to an extent.

But having said all this DPS RKP continues to be a benchmark in academics and way ahead of a lot of established schools in holistic development in my opinion.

Dr Rohit

These days schools like Vasant Valley /Shriram/  Sanskriti /Shiv Nadar/Modern etc don't put emphasis only on rote learning. They have lot of extra and  co curricular activities. Like in Shiv Nadar  recently class 4 boy put exhibition of his17 paintings (was told by a parent,he was not forced to learn other subjects except what was minimal required from class teacher on daily basis)

So some schools only see inclination of chlid towards any particular  field  and try to help him excel in that particular field.

BUT  In India the bread winner in family are  still professionals (DPS has one of the best curriculum)

Some parents of Vasant Valley feel that academics after 5th are not at par with DPS :)

Not all  are  happy what  they have  and yes some schools are also popular because of status symbol n creamy layer

So rest parents can share their thoughts but I would still say DPS is among most sought after schools.

To add DPS RKP is like a play school till class 5 but suddenly they start looking for toppers in class 6 from both branches vv and eok

DPS VK /Dwarka/Rohini starts and puts the same amount of pressure from beginning and maintains it.

Dr Rohit,

As a parent for me the word "holistic development" means development of mind and body both. These new age schools like Vasant Valley, PGGS, Sri Ram, Shiv Nadar etc focus on learning with practical doing examples.

My child is also in one of the new age school.

Eg: In my child school that concept of Junk Food / Healthy Food has been explained by the way of actually doing it.

We parents have been told to send the cuttings of Junk Food / Healthy Food and each child was encouraged to put the picture of Junk / Healthy food in a chart and we parents have been called for the parental interface to explain about it.

Similarly the concept of Numeracy was explained with the help of beads, strings etc

The alphabets were introduced with the help of crafts eg; Letter z was introduced with the help of zebra craft so that the child can relate to.

The concept of Hard / Soft / Wet / Dry was taught by taking the kids to school garden and collecting things accordingly.

In new age schools they focus on practical day to day things and not really restricted to class room study.

Here i am not promoting my child's school or saying that he knows more than other children but just trying to explain how they make things interesting for children. But yes i have also spoken to my friends who  have children in other school and after speaking to them all nursery and KG schools now a days more or less doing the same.

Its that later after class 5 we get to know which school is doing what. I think these new age schools who focus on holistic development works with the interest of child and shape the future of the child in that direction.

If you ask me personally i would not focus on school brand,Infrastructure etc but my focus will be the quality of teachers because great teachers make great schools.

But yes DPS is still the among most sought after schools.

Disclaimer- I am not promoting any school with my response below.

Ms. Meenakshi, I agree with your point that learning with use of practical Aids is indeed a better way. But I also wish to humbly state that this is not the only way one can develop mind and body. You would agree that our generation has not been exposed to such kind of technology based innovative learning but still I am confident we all have developed our mind and body to the best of abilities. Calling these "disruptive innovations" as vehicles of "holistic development" and discounting the traditional ways of learning is not doing justice to the way we have been brought up.

I may be wrong as I am still not aware of the intricacies of the new age learning but I sill cannot imbibe why the traditional schools are not being considered as the ones providing overall growth. I am sure dps also has a strong hold in sports and debating etc. Atleast in my times, we used to lead in every arena of competition and leadership.

I agree with your points completely and i took this a constructive and positive discussion.

Yes things were so different our times, i have also studied in a normal traditional school and my child going to a new age school, where black boards are replaced with smart boards and LCD's

I remember our times children use to participate in shows like bourvita quiz contests etc. But now things are changed , the kids are so technically sound these days and i think these new age schools are demand of future.
