where did you get Lancers convent list? can you please share?

General thoughts/rants about the admissions criteria: (My personal opinions)

0_ I believe EWS quota is a good initiative and should be even more rigorously enforced. Any scope for misuse of these seats should be prevented (I have heard rumours of well to-do parents applying under EWS by misrepresenting facts and documents and even the schools are in hand with them). However, this is an implementation detail (stringent audits) of the DoE and outside our scope.

1_ I believe that alumni and siblings should be given preference

2_ I believe distance should not be a matter as long as school has fixed transport routes and parents can adjust accordingly or arrange for themselves

3_ However, as seen from various lists in the past few days, many of the sought after schools have majority seats going to alumni and siblings (which is understandable as parents who have experienced a good school would like to continue with that)

4_ Since seats are limited and population is on the rise, I feel that candidates with higher points (sibling/alumni) tend to hog up the lists (see example of DPS Rohini)

5_ To mitigate this, there should be a cap on such seats. I am unaware if such a percentage already exists as per DoE.

6_ So instead of granting extra points to sibling/alumni/staff wards, schools should create categories and assign a fixed number to them so that the remaining General Category is truly "general" and fair for all. It also gives parents an idea beforehand of chances of selection (no. of general seats / no. of applicants)

7_ For example, Springdales has Staff Children's category instead of having Staff Child points in General Category. Similarly there should be a sibling and alumni category. Or there should be a cap of such seats in the General Category.

8_ IMHO this is needed else the schools (again DPS Rohini as example) become Closed groups of alumnis and siblings with very few "new" entries. And this becomes a vicious cycle.

9_ Also, School's Discretionary category /  Management quota , which are euphemisms for paid seats should also be legalized with a cap enforced on the percentage of total seats. Because as I understand, at the end of the day, all schools are running a business and have to be profitable. So instead of forcing parents/schools to do back door entries, a management quota should be allowed to all with a maximum number enforced.

10_ Lottery system of General Category may feel unfair in the short term but is the fairest way in the long term. For example, if Child A gets selected by DOL in 3 schools whereas Child B does not get selected in any of the schools, once the 1st list is fixed Child A has to let go of seats in other 2 schools - which will then be up for grabs for Child B.

11_ In the case where a child does not secure any seat by DOL (which is possible as Total no. of applicants in Delhi >> Total no. of seats in Delhi), parents have 3 options :

       a) Go for government school - Most do not prefer this due to quality of schools

       b) Go for NCR schools outside Delhi (Kundli/Sonepat/Ghaziabad/Faridabad/Noida/etc) - This may be an issue due to commuting or reolocation

       c) Go for paid seat in the management quota - This may burn a hole in your pocket but still better than relocation IMO.

I understand that this is not the time for philosophical discussions but shared my thoughts on the unfair system of points as I can see many parents who have filled up to 40 forms are still waiting to secure a seat.

I do not have any confirmed seat myself and just 2 days and 5 school's lists to go.

Other's opinions invited.

Views are welcome, me too sailing in the same boat, 51 schools, not shortlisted yet.

Coming to the discussion as above, RSJMS and MS VV is considering your point no. 6 with a modified version, they have segregated the seats into Alumni, Siblings, EWS, General (including not selected Alumni/Siblings)...

All the best to all the parents for their endeavour...

Absolutely... v tensed.. God Bless all..

Varun I totally agree!
