can you please post the link or the list itself?
Hi Sakshi/Parents,
I always wonder how much importance shall one give to Distance. How much travel time can we assume to be fine for a small kid. When i see relative rankings and school recommendations on this forum, i see some highly recommended schools that i didnt even apply for because I thought that having my kid travel for more than 45 min is something i should totally avoid. I know its a personal call but what is best recommended. i am withdrawing admission from Ambience which is 1km away to get my ward admitted to Indian that is 5-6 kms away. So was pondering over this thought.

No matter Distance is very important
But if you get schools where you are sure you can send your child for 14 yrs without again going trauma of school admissions circus.
We have seen many parents sending their children to ncr also as they were not satisfied with nearby school.
Its personal choice.
Hi Ankit,
What you are thinking is a very valid concern. It is however, subjective for each parent to decide on the distance. My humble opinion is that schooling is a long term investment with no substitute (you cannot have 2 schools), so if there is an initial discomfort due to commuting, one can bear with that. Of course, there has to be some upper limit to that even. But as I said earlier, it is you who has to draw that line.
Some ideas around it -
1_ Check google maps for home to school time taken in the morning (~7-8 am)
2_ Check google maps for school to home time taken in the afternoon (~12-1 pm)
3_ Make test drives for couple of days yourself at the school timings both to and fro to establish the timings by road
4_ Some parents opt for cabs instead of school bus just for this reason. It saves time and gives door-to-door pick and drop. You may consider that.
5_ The real issue is till Nur/KG. In senior classes the children are not too taxed by commuting.
All this is emanating from personal experience. My schooling involved travel from Paschim Vihar to Dhaula Kuan. My daughter has been admitted to the same school so it is the same equation for her. I have done the dry runs and found that the travel time, though stretching the limits, is within acceptable duration. I believe it will harden her and help her cope with other struggles. IMO school is not just academics and extra-curricular but about building character too.
Are there any possibilities or does this happen that after the 2nd list schools get in touch with parents if there are vacant seats??
Thanks
