I am sure Parents don't send their children long distances by choice. It is compulsion. If there is not even an average School within 1 km or even 1-3 km, what should such Parents do. Even if a school is there in neighborhood but you are not able to get admission, should such children remain at home ? Given a choice everyone would like to have all facilities in the neighborhood whether it is school or other facilities.
Dr. Rakesh is Alumni, Sibling, First Child, Gild Child, Single Parent etc etc points are the right way of giving admissions
Either there should be no criteria just a lottery system, but that again not very transparent everyone know how school plays. So, think for a some concrete system of points instead
Ashish, I simply commented on "have you ever seen small kids traveling in school bus / vans for long distance after school hours they are completely exhausted". Nursery admission criteria is a complex case on which we can have endless discussions here. Outside the forum Govt, schools and other agencies are already discussing this for years. Let us see where it ends. Our only concern should be justice for all.
Whatever criteria pvt school's choose it has to be transparent process. See what happened in SPV first list. Most parents are not aware how they got selected or didn't get selected. People living in school's vicinity also didn't get admission. Even if it is a random selection it should be lottery selection or they should give points for each kid.
Private schools adopt neighborhood criteria or not but system should be transparent.

My Wife"s Domicile certificate and DOB Certificate from Himachal ; my educational degrees from Gujarat. As Khushboo said in one of her posts that language test that they are taking is pretty comprehensive............they converse with you in that language , ask you to read a passage in that language and make you write lines in it. So if you can manage these things you should be fine .
