Only depends on distance. no point torturing the child for when we are dealing with almost equal Schools.
My Opinion, please go as per the distance. it may sound fancy for the first few days (if one go by the school brand) but when Child starts suffering, it pains a lot.
DPS undoubtedly a better and bigger brand recognized globally. SPV has its own merits.
If we are dealing with equals, go with the distance to the school.
My elder child is studying in SPV. Two years ago I has chosen this school for my elder daughter. To my surprise this year, my son didn't get through despite having sibling points. I have complained to DOE about this and would urge parents to write notes to DOE for the unfair practice. I hope you know this school is Hindi medium as I didn't know that at that point in time. We have tried very hard for DPS since last three years but haven't got in.
It has been one month since I have been running after school authorities but it seems they are above everything. Consider yourself lucky that you have an option like DPS VK. I go abroad for many seminars. People are in awe of DPS but don't even recognize SPV. Nursery timings are also horrible till 2 pm. Now I am trying in another school nearby for both my children. This is my personal experience, you should go for DPS anyday.
U mean to say DPS didn't take the sibling case or SPV?
Shubh
Dr Saurabh meant sibling case not taken in SPV
dps has taken all siblings cases. it is top school everybody in india knows. no comparison
Thank You Dr Saurabh...........these are inside details of SPV that only a parent whose ward is in that school can share ..........I am sure they will benefit everyone associated with this forum this year as well as in the coming years.
Request you Sakshiji to take note of this comment and archive it for all the parents next year.
Thanks Dr Saurabh, this is a very valuable feedback for SPV, which we were not aware of.
Vinay, please read Dr Saurabh's comments above
Yes. I went through...
Dr. Saurabh,
Other than these two issues (Hindi Med. & Sibling Denied), which are really big concerns, how did you find the school in co-curricular and academics, since you one child is already there ?
Vinay, in academics the school is almost same as, if not lower as compared to the top rung schools of Delhi like the DPS schools, Vasant Valley, Sanskriti, Modern, BVN etc. Some from my peer group who have approach have pulled their children out to take admission in above schools as these schools at least have a well known identity.
My child is still in the younger class so I'm sharing inputs I got from parents of senior classes I have met. Co-curricular is also good but I've heard that there is a lot of favoritism. For most of my student life I was at Hampton Court in Mussoorie. My Principal was highly involved with the parents and day to day events at the school. Her rounds had everybody on their toes. I'm surprised the environment is opposite here where even major complaints are handled at teacher level. Many parents have not even ever met the Principal. With our first child we didn't have these inputs to make a decision but hopefully I'm helping some first time parents here.
My neighbor's two children go to Bluebells. I'm not a Delhiite but he is. He tells me Delhi ppl like to run after things that are unattainable. Nobody understand that its difficult to get admission in SPV because they are a minority institution not having many general quota seats. Thats why they have a higher rejection rate per general quota seat. The high number of rejection is certainly not because the school is any better than a DPS or BVN or Bluebells. The school takes a high moral ground which I don't understand since they themselves are denying sibling admission. Particularly the high moral ground is questionable given the nature of complaints to parents regarding misdemeanor of senior students.
I think the school being Hindi medium is a very big issue. As, the child lives in a society outside the school also. We've had to work very hard with my daughter in making friends because she finds it a bit difficult to understand her friends and they find it difficult to understand her. And this is when children are very young, as children grow older they can be very mean and poke fun too. It doesn't take a doctor to understand that this can lead to confidence issues. Teachers simply tell us that you should speak to your child in English. If that was the idea then why don't you introduce the same in the school???
