DPS RKP V/S MSVV is a never ending debate .........it is a question that has been raised innumerable times in the last 30 years and honestly I can tell you with 100% accuracy that if you leave academics aside..........MSVV IS DEFINITELY NOT BEHIND RKP...........IF NOT AHEAD.

Nothing much has ever been said on this forum in favour of MSVV.......Probably because it is not adequately represented and not many people are aware of its pros.You are in a position where you have to choose between the oldest and arguably the best schools of Delhi.............

My Suggestion..................if you want your child to become a professional ( doctor / engineer etc ) on the basis of academic excellence go for DPS............otherwise MSVV ( 2 big advantages -----same building till Class 12th AND a much lower class size......only 4 sections in senior classes as opposed to 20 + in DPS)

if overall personality and holistic growth modern school vv has proven track record

Well,

In this debate of MSVV vs DPSRKP, I think I am one of the best suited person to comment since I have spent all my childhood facing and analyzing this competition.

I have been in both schools and still have friends from both schools. As rightly pointed out by other parents, Modern School is the old school of the elite of Delhi. You will find BMWs, Mercs etc outside the school waiting to pick up kids. The alums usually go out to study abroad and settle in their sprawling family businesses. It is rare that kids go in for professional courses from this school. Advantage- ur kid will have immense future connections to excel in this career. Cons - peer pressure to match up with the rich and famous of Delhi. (to illustrate, in 1984 when Amitabh Bachhan shifted to Delhi as an MP, I had Abhishek Bachhan in my class).

DPSRKP - this is supposedly the most powerful school of my time which was called the "factory" as it churned out the maximum doctors, engineers and IAS. We used to have the largest pool of NTSE and Olympiad scholars in the country. The crowd belongs to eminent professionals who, though rich, provide their kids with limited resources. Pros - excellent academics to achieve something in life, lesser peer pressure, high respect while applying to higher education. Cons - You would not be able to rub shoulders with the whos who of Delhi, focus on sports is limited as academics is more intense.

So the choice depends on what you want your child's future to be like and how much luxury you can afford to provide him/her to match with the peers.

I feel strongly for dps rkp now.. hope it's the right decision for my kid.. thank you all this forum is a great place for new parents..wish everyone else good luck too..
