15 Sep 2009, 0048 hrs IST,

Thanks for updating
What does your child like the most?
my child is a boy and as most boys he loves his cars and bicylce.. his best moments are either making a train out of all the cars making them go over flyovers/ speed breakers( pillow or our limbs) & parking them or riding his bike wit his cousin.. and if he is in not so active mood.. he loves to sit on my lap and read a book. he also loves making puzzles.
good list very useful at least for questions..but answers we need to write our own
(I had started a thread separately but somehow, I realized that the got lost under the pile. Few points may help parents).

Here are few points that you should remember when going for interactions. Give it your best shot and leave the results to almighty.

1. Try to not to disturb your child during these days by either scolding him/her or upsetting him/her about something.

2. Ensure that the child is having enough sleep and is eating properly

3. Incase possible, please do not quarrel/fight with your spouse:-) in front of the kid. Maintain calm.

4. Explain the child that “It is the school that wants him/her”. It is the big school where everybody is looking forward to make him/her a friend.

5. Play games with child involving names of fruits, vegetables, animals, flowers, transport etc. This will increase child’s vocabulary.

6. On the interview/interaction day, keep the child happy. Ensure he/she has enough sleep.

7. Make sure the child has had Breakfast (or a proper meal) before the interaction starts. This is important. You don’t want your child to be upset because you had to rush out of the house for the interaction and didn’t give him/her anything to eat. You can bear the hunger, he/she may not.

8. Remember, teachers ask children what they ate in breakfast/lunch. Make sure your child gets to eat something he knows well and can talk about it. Kids love Shakes, puddings (or something that you know he/she likes) and would speak about it if they have eaten that. Interviewer would comer to know that they are being (or not being) looked after and fed properly. Wasn’t there a question in “Alibaba” asking about “how do you ensure that your child has a proper balanced and nutritious meal”

9. Reach the school 10 minutes before the stipulated time. Carry all documents in Original.

10. Wear nice, well ironed, washed or new clothes. I don’t know if it is really important but I guess a crisp shirt does speak volumes. I always prefer a snow white shirt.

11. Interact confidently. Speak well and Speak in English (if you are applying in an English Medium school). Don’t interrupt each other (spouse) while you are answering questions. If you know this would possibly happen, please rehearse. If you think your other half isn’t answering the question (or explaining) completely or correctly, let him/her complete and then add.

All the best.

Sorry, haven't been able to contribute for few days. Shall try my best in near future.

Others, Please add.
Thanks Mr Sanjay All your tips are excellent as we know what you wrote works:)

Thnx for giving suggestions..

i think all the parents shud first go and graduate in human psychology, and then i guess we may answer better, how weird r the questions? like what are your expectations from ur child......do they expect that someone among the parents wud say that he or she wants the child to be a gangster? of course not...we all wud give a decent answer, and i guess no body among us wud have even have had thought so far for a 3-4 yr old child becoming something like a doctor or an engg.....moreover even if u have a dream carrer for ur child, may be future holds something different for him.e.g. ur parents cud have dreamt for u or me becoming a doctor or may be an engg.but with time computers arrived and carrer prospects changed.so now if u r not a doctor, will ur parents sucide?
today being a computer engg is a gr8 career, tommorow it may be nuclear scientist........did the father of neil armstrong ever have an idea about his darling son landing on moon?
or sir admond hillary climbing the mount everest?or edison inventiing a bulb or a telephone which is perhaps the lifeline of everyone including the person who is taking our interviews.
whats your financial status?
will u keep earning what u r earning today?wont u grow?or what if u make a loss in business and either stop earning or loose all ur assets?will they throw our child out of school because we have lost a job?i dont understand what the hell is this....if anyone among us is able to cope with the school fees and other expenses, they shud not be concerned how we are managing to pay.i f u dont earn much but ur parents have left enough for u to enjoy life....wont they give admission?
i think these questions are just to waste time of parents, actually money is what plays a crucial role at the end of the game.they want to know ur financial status to have an idea about ur donating capabilities.
newspapers have published that beggers in delhi make anything from 500-1500 a day...gud job i guess, earning enough to pay all the bills, and we run from pillars to post doing hard work at job, pleasing our boss for a favourable promotion, coping with family problems, attending social functions and doing hell lot of things to run with society wr r part of.
and these schools ask silly questions just for an admission for nursery.i wonder what questions are asked at IITs or IIms?how many times you have had sex?how many partners have u swapped?because everything more then casual is now being asked for a nursery admission.
hey parents we all know about donations.this site has over 10,000 members.what if we play with an idea of founding an NGO and contribute money which we have kept for our child as donation to school....with this money what if we open our own school and give all these silly schools a run for their money?give opinion on this, may be we can start a new concept of co-operative school
rahul bhai,NGO idea is basically to bring parents on a single platform, forming a team/union,asking the cheif minister to allot land, for charity, raising a building and starting a school.it may take years, but it cud start a new trend, the way people in gurgaon decided to field their own candidate in elections, because they were fed up with local leaders.so if we start doing something like this, its possible we dont succeed, but our efforts may fuel a new revolution.
anyway i will talk to my local friends and discuss the idea.......
i guess there is no school which u can say un branded, forget DPS or so called branded ones, overall our city has less schools then aspiring students.if u think its easy to get ur kid admitted to a govt run school,go give it a try.i studied for few yrs in govt school, formerly called ludlow castle number 4,shankracharya marg.the then principal, hounarable Mr.M.M.Sharma,took the interview,i got the admission somehow, but it wasnt easy though my own mother was a teacher in that same school. And my mother is still a teacher, every year people approach her to get their kids admitted to her school, but delhi govt has now an online admission system in place, and no undue favours can be given to anybody.only difference is that for govt school u dont need to bribe or donate money.our cheif minister Mrs sheila dikshit has straight lined the whole system.even little known private schools being run into many localities r getting more applications then seats they have.No wonder if we see having a new open learning system for school kids in future,or may be 100 percent online schools approved by CBSE?what an idea sir ji....lol
