Nursery Admissions in Delhi NCR 2025-26

New Delhi: Delhi government's Directorate of Education has decided to move to the Supreme Court to appeal against the High Court's verdict on nursery admissions in city schools. High Court had quashed the points system issued by the Lt Governor on November 28 and permitted schools to form their own guidelines for nursery admission this season.

A notice has been sent by the advocate of the Directorate of Education (DoE) to Action Committee for Unaided Recognized Private Schools as per which the private schools were asked not to initiate or go ahead with the admission process for the acedemic session 2015-16 till Supreme Court's verdict on the same is out. "I have been instructed to convey that the DoE, govt of NCT Delhi has decided to prefer Special Leave Petition in the Supreme Court against the interim order dated 10.12.2014 of the Division bench of High court in LPA.

No 781 of 2014, titled Directorate of Education vs Action Committee of Unaided Private Recognized Schools in which the Court did not grant a stay on the order dated 28.11.2014...

"As the Supreme Court is under vacation till Jan 5, 2015 and the matter will come up for hearing after the winter vacations, it is hereby informed that the Private Unaided Recognized Schools may not initate and may not go ahead with the admission process in the entry level classes for the academic session 2015-16 in their schools till the matter is decided by the Supreme Court so as not to prejudice the outcome of said SLP," said the notice issued yesterday.

When asked about the implications of the notice if the schools continue with their admission process, Sumit Vohra of admissionsnursery.com said, "Now as far as the implications are concerned, if the Supreme Court decides to put a stay order on the high Court's verdict, the admissions which would take place during this period from tomorrow will be considered null and void. However, the other thing which might happen is that the Supreme Court may ask both DoE and the schools to follow last years LG guidelines. Also, the Court can reject the DoE's application in case of which the admissions will continue on the basis of guidelines formed by individual schools," said Vohra. S K bhattacharya, President of Action Committee for Unaided Recognized Private Schools was unavailable for comment.

Meanwhile, several schools, like Kulachi Hansraj Model School in Ashok Vihar and Mount Abu Public School in Rohini are starting admissions tomorrow, while Cambridge Primary School in New Friends Colony are starting the admission process on December 26. Gyan Bharati in Saket will start the process on January 21, 2015. On Nov 28, the Delhi High court has quashed the nursery admissions guidelines issued by the Delhi LG last year terming the government's decision as "neither procedurally proper nor rational".

Under the earlier system, out of a total 100 points, 70 were given if the child lives in the neighbourhood of the school, additional 20 were given if a sibling is studying there, five points more if either parent is an alumni and another five points if it is an inter-state transfer case. Draw of lots were held at each point level. Thereafter, the government had on February 27 issued an order abolishing the five points that were being awarded in inter-state transfer cases.

its good the DoE is moving to SC, most schools ve reserved a chunk of seats for management category, and reserved seats for both staff and siblings category in addition to giving extra points to siblings and staff in general category. it seems unfair.

I wish this move had come last week.

It is most important issue to move to the Apex Court and this step has to be initiated much earlier by the DOE in order to have to common procedures for the nursery admission's. Also the High Court verdict was a strange incident and cannot be welcomed because it gives a safe passage to these Un -aided Private Schools to dictate the parents and childrens and there is no mechanism to stop. And a recent example for us is the Refund of Fees which was raised by these schools to unreasonable extent. There is specific order by the Committee formed under Justice Anil Dev Singh and High Court is aware of that Order which shows that how many schools have done irregularities in the Records and Accounts so,that the fee hike. No schools has obeyed the same but our Honorable Court is unable to see such Contempt by these schools.

PARENTS ARE SUGGESTED TO GO AS PER THEIR WILL AND FILL THE FORMS AS IT IS NOT MAJOR EXPENDITURE IF SCHOOL START ADMISSIONS TOMORROW. AS THE VERDICT CAN GO EITHER WAY ..

Many of the schools in Dwarka have already started though few have put it on hold till 5th Jan. Now since documentation of different kind (attested/self-attested,affidavit etc) might be required as supporting and we as parent will take time to arrange it also, I think we should also not stop and go ahead.
