Hi Mutahar, I think its all about personal choice of parents. I am an alumni of DPS (in fact my entire family and including my mom who taught there for 25 years). We have let go DPS and enrolled our daughter in PGGS for multiple reasons; few of them being:
1) I believe that a school is far more than an education institution and honestly I give less importance to academics compared to a holistic development of a child at the school. The traditional schools are still very academic oriented. Even if they have extra curricular activities, it is pre-dominantly just on paper as not enough time is devoted to that. I like the concept of mandatory passion hour at PGGS (from 1st standard onwards) everyday. The right infrastructure is key for this and PGGS has not compromised at all on this front (obviously this means higher fees).
2) Another thing that I strongly believe in is the exposure that a child can get through competitions at the highest level. The fact that PGGS won't have more than 104-120 people in any standard (vis-a-vis ~500 in most big schools), means that a student of PGGS has better opportunity to get exposure to multiple activities at every platform.
3) The teacher-student ration is one of the best at PGGS and thus logically more attention to each child.
4) I have always bet on new initiatives of organisations as they will strive hard to make it successful. Even if PGGS won't have been associated with Muthoot group or St. George's (we did not apply here), we would have still gone with PGGS. When we were deciding for a playschool for our daughter, we had a similar dilemma and chose Klay (my daughter was the 2nd batch for their GK-I centre) and we have absolutely no regrets for choosing Klay over Shriram early years, Kangaroo, Study, etc.
5) Like all parents, I am concerned about the health and well being of my daughter while she is at school PGGS has done all possible to ensure that this is not an area of worry for parents by doing things like placing soft floorings for all junior sections, having a well equipped clinic at the school, tying up with Batra for all health facilities, etc.
6) The way they have smartly packed everything into a 4.5 acre campus is another indication of the deep thought going in from the management (in most schools, the management is not that active and are unfortunately there more for political reasons).
7) The teaching methodology explained (my mom was present and all her life she has taught primary school children only) is definitely new age and more scientific than the methods followed in traditional schools.
Surely these are just our view points and as I said its a matter of personal choice and comfort - a school at best is a facilitator for us.
All the best with the process...
Dear Saakshi,
Many thanks for your guidance.
Regards
Hello Sakshi, Lathaa
Kindly share your reviews on Guru Harkrishan Public School India Gate, I got the call today that my daughter has selected for nursery admission.
Can you please advice how school is academically and extra curricular activities perspective as my daughter's name is already in Salwan Rajinder Nagar?
Need your assistance urgently
Hi Amit
GHPS has 4 branches which are top rated in Delhi, GHPS India Gate, Vasant Vihar, Punjabi Bagh and Nanak Piao. All these 4 branches are top class and comparatively better than Salwan.
Thanks// Supreet
Please suggest.... My son has been selected in
1) Indraprastha International School, Dwarka
2) RD Rajpal School, Dwarka
Which one should i choose. Just got couple of more days to finalize things.
