Thanks Suruchi!!! but it is a long time....how much time in general they will take with the child

10-15 min

Hi Suruchi.

What all do they ask in DPS Noida interaction. When do they declare the result?

At DPS Noida first you have to fill a 2 page questionnaire which has 8-10 questions each to be answered in about 4-5 sentences (like "what will you do if you have a function at home and child has a test", "how do you handle tantrums" etc).

Then they take the child into a room (parents can linger around) where they make them do puzzles, coloring, matching etc. They may also ask them questions, poems etc.

Then parents gather in a room in batches of 15-20 and principal and one teacher ask 1-2 questions one by one. Usually its a questions like "why do you want your child to go to dps noida?".

Result will be out by end of Sep I think.

Hi,

When did attended interaction in DPSN , today because process I heard yesterday from others is little bit different.

yes its just 2 questions n 7-8 parents taken for just telling about yourself, please see swati aggarwals description in this thread it was perfect

written questionnaire about parenting, how can parents contribute in childs education etc. n then a rigorous child interaction session and a common parent principal interaction wherein we just have to tell about ourselves.

result would be declared on sunday 8pm

Thanks Swati Jain for a quick response.

Dear Parents,

Many of the discussions on this thread are about whether school X is better than school Y. My views on this are that all schools are same and parents should go by their gut of what they felt upon visiting the school rather than asking other's opinon. Everyone has some opinion about every school but nothing is truth.

I think distance from home should be a very big criteria as there are many advantages of school being near home - you can go to school at a short notice, child wont have to travel in but in hot summers, and usually some other children nearby will be going to same school. Other than distance, the second aspect we should look at is how crowded is the school. If there are too many students in a section or a grade then the child will obviously get less attention which she/he needs in their initial years. In functions etc the child will get lesser opportunity to participate. Bigger and more sought after schools are more crowded than smaller new schools. However these established schools have stricter filtration criteria based on parents education and profession so the quality of students might be better there. The newer schools take anybody who can pay up so the children there consist of upper middle class or rich familiies.

However, at the end of the day its the child's own capability and the parents attention to the child which matter the most. School helps in providing a good environment but very little actually depends on the school. I and a lot of my friends went to govt schools with poor infra and bad teachers. My school fee was Rs 5 per month. However I went to IIT and IIM. So did many of my collegemates who came from remote areas and unknown schools. The success of a kid depends on his own talent.

So I think we as parents shouldnt dwell too much in comparing schools. If overall gut-feel about a school seems right we should just go ahead and not worry about school X being better than school Y. Just choose any one and go ahead with it and be happy with your decision.

X

I totally agree Mr.X. Make sense, and because of this inclination of our as a Parent towards any school, makes school to do such monopoly.

Some analysis is fine, but getting more deep into school comparison doesn't  make much difference.

Well said:)
