Also I believe DPS N is just a hype.... I have friends who have studied from there and they are doing OK

Believe u me IT totally depend upon us what kind of surroundings we are giving to our child???

How much time are we spending with them

Also What kind of training we r imparting other than school

As school will give only 1 hr for any activity in a week...we have to understand the talent our kid process and train him accordingly

School will give basic training till 5th standard...after that they will just train u for competitions but not full training which we only have to impart....

I believe u all will agree 4years kids are participating in compettions do u think school has trained him... No but parents

Hence my suggestion is try to pick school which is near your home...teachers and principal easily accessible.... and spend as much time you can spend with your kid

All schools are same.... only infrastructure varies

Agree with you Ashima.

All schools are same. They will give you only basic training.

As i already wrote in this forum for any particular area in which your kid is interested, you have to go for any separate institute of that area and get her trained.

I think we should give preference to distance and then the good teaching staff who actually give knowledge to our kids in all area.

At least I don’t want my daughter to get tuition outside from the school for her study. Yes for other extra activities I know I need some different institutes to get certification.

Also I have s

Hi- may be i can help a little. My son goes to DPSN- Nursery and we went through the same anxiety last year. DPSN was the last school to conduct interviews or declare result. Experience was similar. But if i look back and see, i think the following parameters is what they keep in mind:

- child should not be clingy (they make the kid do a few activities while parents wait outside)

- basic concepts or clarity - like identification of colors, patterns

- fine motor skills- bead the string

- distraction : while my son was with me with another teacher, there was another child who was crying loudly. Most kids got distracted. But my reading is : those kids who continued with little distraction got through from that batch.

-teachers will go on asking questions as long as your child can answer (more than right or wrong, i think they look for confidence and the attempt made by the child...ofcourse 90 % has to be right). They may even ask what is the baby of a kangaroo called or where does a penguin live (my son answered penguin lives in an igloo)

- puzzle- my son was shown a picture of a mango, asked what color and was given a 4 piece puzzle to complete.

hope this helps.

Good Luck.

Thanks Kopal that will help many parents :)

Kopal Great write up thanks

Hi Kopal ,

How has ur experience been with DPSN till so far ?

Ela,

so far they haven't stressed too much on academic part in any PTA. It has been more about the attitude of the child, the way they conduct themselves in class, how they interact with the other kids, their involvement in class work- home work.Rest, curriculum in schools is the same and kids are smart these days- they pick up things and they all do well.

Overall- Satisfactory

Thanks Kopal ..

Completely agree Ashima ..

Nursery Admission Fever seems more than a Dengue.. :)

Schools wants a "born with Golden Spoon" child. They want Savant from the beginning. But ideally they should work on average students to convert them into Scholars.

How can a School analize a kid in 30-40 min?
Babies have a different mood always.
