Hi Ela, congratulations. Can you please tell me the fees submitted? Other than what's specified did they ask for additional amount (they are asking people to carry cheque books)? And why do we need to take the kid along?

Sure Sunita . We paid 90k in draft and rest amount 20K ( minimum ) for "Gaurvi" foundation .

We need to carry kid along ( though nothing is required from them ).

Just for information to DPS parents that DPS is asking donation in 2 categories - one for Gaurvi and one for displaying name in School journal.

Gaurvi has two options - 10K and 20K

School Journal - 10K, 20K, 30K, 40K (last 2 figures may be a bit different as I don't remember exactly).

My main point to focus here is that if you ask any teacher there regarding donation then they say both donation in both categories is mandatory.

But we saw a parent who had admitted his daughter last year in DPS and had paid the donation. This time he was adamant that he will not pay again for his second child.

Teacher took him out and after around 45 minutes he came back and got the admission form without paying the donation.

We also gave donation for 10K for Gaurvi and didn't pay for school journal for which the teacher argued a bit initially but then agreed.

In short yesterday what I saw in DPS was an open forum where parents are supposed to empty out their pockets and banks just to get their child admitted in a so called most sought after school.

Again it was the same super hot AV room where ACs were not working.

They had no preparation for this session yesterday and in front of us only they started laying tables, documents, posters etc. If they had given a particular time slot then they themselves should also be punctual.

Kids were asked to come just for an informal medical check up. That was totally useless as that room was hot and it was sleep time for most of the kids. All were getting drowsy and irritated there.

I could see few parents getting confused if they should deposit fees here or not after seeing the "khullam khulla loot" being done by the school.

Why had they mandated the donation? Also, even if mandated then why amount is also to be selected as per their given options. It should be my wish how much I want to donate.

Also, if you don't pay donation cheque then they will not give you the admission form. First you have to give the cheque and then get the admission form.

They have taken the original birth certificate and will be keeping that with them until the child is with the school. This I couldn't understand why they need to keep the original. they could have taken the gazzetted officer attested one which they had asked us to keep ready even before form filling but never used it.

Even after seeing all this going on which I was not happy, still I have admitted my daughter to DPS Noida. I just wish the our journey with this school is a smooth one where both of us move to a progressive path.

Thanks to Sakshi & all parents whose advise and discussions helped me a lot to decide so many things for my child's admission.

Sakshi - Hats off to you for doing this selfless job where you have so many groups running in parallel and you read and reply to every comment. Also, in parallel you maintain the decorum of this forum by pointing out and warning for the misleading stuff if published.

I agree with You Shilpi.

I didn't like this system in DPS. Even I asked them if we get any 80G concession in Tax for this, it's a No. So basically its a way of fooling people on name of helping the poor. All in all, schools are no longer a noble profession but instead have become business centers. Teacher called that it's expected from you to pay this amount as it's used in development of the school.

Can they explain why this amount is not taken as draft? What about development charges which we gave in those 90K. Problem is that we as parents don't want to protest on this.

I tried to protest that day but didn't get any support. They made me roam from one place to another and finally I had to pay the money. Moreover, we have few parents who were willing to even give donations upto 40K, don't know how they manage but for people who have earned their money hard way will find it difficult to pay it as bribe.

Worst part is, there was no breakup of 90K they took.

Don't you think its unethical.

As you got help from other /earlier parents and our team you make group just for your use and no help for future parents about problems /inputs from parents.
