Hi Mousumi,

I am also in the same boat. My daughter will trun 3 in March 2016. I am not sure if it would be advisable to send her to nursery so early (3yrs 10 days).. had she been 3 yrs 3/4 months it would have been fine as a kid changes a lot in 3-4 months timeframe

Mousumi,

You shud first make a list of all schools for which ur child will be eligible next year coz as we have seen this year, most of the schools follow age criteria of 3+ (and some of them have upper limit of 4 yrs). If I were u, I would get my child admitted this year anyway just to avoid the risk next year. And you can look for changing school in a year or two.

Mousumi, all the schools have a to and from date - for example, DPS NOIDA is taking kids born between 01 Oct 2011 to 30 sep 2012 for 2016-2017 so if they don't consider your kid for this year - they'll surely consider your kid for Nursery in 2017-18 because that's when he'll fall in their age criteria. In fact, I believe most of the schools have this criteria (or latest would be before 31 Dec). So rather than going for 31 Mar date as a criteria, check the to and from date (against the DOB of your kid). In my opinion, please don't rush because you wouldn't want to have issues at later stages of education (I remember during our time, there were students who were stopped (and some forged DOB then) from taking exams of 10th because the CBSE board didn't allow kids born after a particular date (01 sep or 30 sep) take the exam, but yes that was long long ago and things might have changed but do consider such points before filling up the forms. I am not discouraging but just ensure that the kid doesn't suffer at a later stage because we hurried ourselves into admission. Thanks.
